Pressies from Hong Kong

Posted on Mar 31, 2009 under ashley, fashion, shopping | 19 Comments

My mom and my sisters returned from Hong Kong today.  They were in HK for a one-week shopping and eating holiday ;)   As usual, there’s stuff for the lil’ missy from her por por and yee-yees.

Elmo and Cookie Monster t-shirt

A pair of pink shorts and an army camouflage skirt

My favourite snack – Walnut and Date Pastilles. Delicious!!!

They went to Macau too so it’s a must to have these.

Portuguese Egg Tarts and Kai Mei Pau (cocktail bun) which is sweet, buttery and has a coconut taste. My diet is ruined :(

My mom bought a packet of spicy scallop snack. Really yummy if you are into seafood :)

They come in individual packaging and pretty expensive too.  I won’t buy them though…hehehehe

it’s probably not bed bugs

that caused Ashley to scratch nonstop.  This is because last night we all slept in our beds and yet this morning, Ashley’s body began to itch when she woke up.  So, she scratched and scratched till red patches appeared all over her legs, hands and buttocks :(   Her eyelids were slightly red too.  I quickly applied calamine lotion on those areas and then fed her a teaspoon of allergy meds given by her doc a few weeks when she had a slight rash on her finger and feet.  Then, I sent her off to school eventhough and she cried when I left.  Bad mommy huh?  Luckily she was ok when I picked her up.  The teacher said she was fine and only cried a bit.  I will be feeding her the allergy meds for the another day or two, just in case.  She didn’t scratch anymore this whole afternoon. In the meantime, I think she is allergic to some food which she ate while in Ipoh.  She had the following:-

Ipoh Koay Teow Soup at 2 different places 2 days in a row

Chee Cheong Fun with char siew

Oyako Don (chicken/egg rice) at Sushi King

maybe she’s allergic to Ipoh koay teow? or the ingredients in the soup or the chee cheong fun?  *sigh*  Really mind-boggling.  Think I am going to need some acne treatment soon as I can feel some acne popping up on my face due to stress :(

we are back ;)

Got back from Ipoh today.  So glad to be home eventhough we were gone for a short while. The hotel we stayed in sucked big time. Either the aircond in the room was very dry or Ashley was bitten by bed bugs :(    Her hands, legs, the back of her neck, ears and back were very itchy and she scratched till certain areas bleed :(   I applied some antiseptic cream for her but it didn’t help.  Wonder why the bugs didn’t attack me instead.

On the other hand, we managed to eat some good stuff in Ipoh like curry mee, bean sprout chicken, had white coffee and etc.  Got to start my diet tomorrow :D     Ashley misses her toys and books so much that she quickly dug out some books and ransacked the toy baskets as soon as she arrived home.  Mess mess and more mess.

Hey everyone.  Will be taking a break from this blog for 2 days as we are going back to Ipoh today for Qing Ming festival.  A short trip this time ;)   Therefore, I won’t be able to hop over to your blog this weekend.  Oh before I forget….today is the Earth Hour day.  Anyone participating?  Have a good weekend everyone :)

My First

Posted on Mar 26, 2009 under me, shopping | 22 Comments

When we dropped by 1Utama over the weekend because my sis wanted to get Ashley a pressie, I saw so many SALE signs on all the stores.  Boy, it sure was tempting.  Of course, I wasted no time and checked out all my favourite stores but to my surprise, I could not find anything I like.  My mum who came along managed to get a north face fleece jacket as she will be going to Hong Kong for a vacation next week.  The weather is pretty cool in Hong Kong now, especially at night so a jacket is good to keep her warm.  I thought I would be able to save some money since I did not get anything until I saw Charles & Keith.  I’ve heard a lot about this shop but have not checked them out before ;)

hehehehe…I could not resist and bought a pair of shoes. My first pair from Charles & Keith.  You all know that I am a shoeholic eh?  My sisters almost went crazy when they found out about Charles & Keith‘s branch opening in KL.  Then of course, my dear friend, Jan (babybokchoi.blogsome.com) is also a big fan of them. She told me that when she was still in Singapore, she used to buy a pair every week.  Can you imagine that?  A pair of shoes a week?  Boy, I wanna see her shoe closet!!  Since she has migrated, she can no longer get Charles & Keith.  Therefore, when I told her that I bought my first pair the other day, she wanted to see the shoes :D

Ok Jan, here is what I got :D   Yes, I just can’t get enough of wedge shoes.  Got to be real careful when wearing it because white shoe stains easily :)   Charles & Keith has many wedge designs and I like this pair because it is very comfortable.  What do you think? Nice?

then you may want to give this place a try.  It is a coffeeshop called Sun Yin Loong located in Kota Damansara.  Does the name ‘Sun Yin Loong‘ sounds familiar to you?  Well if you are from Ipoh like me, then you’ll know that Sun Yin Loong is THE place to get the best white coffee in town (not all the other places that claim to be Ipoh white coffee).  Sun Yin Loong is The Pioneer and they are The Original Old Town White Coffee which has been around for half a decade.  The Sun Yin Loong in Kota Damansara is a branch from Ipoh.  During the day time, you can find many delicious hawker food.  At night, it is transformed into a Steamboat heaven.  For RM15.80, you can eat all you want.  Yes, it is a All-You-Can-Eat Steamboat Buffet ;)   We were there last week and boy, I tell ya, I ate so much that I could barely walk ;)   There are so many good varieties of food there.  You can find all kinds of fresh fishballs, meatballs, noodles, seafood such as crabs, prawns, cuttlefish, squid, fishes, mussels, clams and many more.  There is a choice of clear soup, herbal or tom yum.  We had clear soup and herbal soup that night.

A view of the coffeeshop. Check out the tagline -The Original Ipoh Old Town White Coffee

My plate of fishballs, meatballs, “chu kan yuen”, sausages, cuttlefish and more

I also got some green noodles for myself, yee mee for Ashley, button mushrooms, inoki mushrooms, beancurds and some seaweed.

My seafood galore

Here is something very unique….the different types of sauces you can help yourself to. Simply awesome or should I say – “syiokalingam” (sasha is going to laugh at this word).  The sauces go so well with the food.  My favourite is the chilli/garlic/ginger sauce (jar No. 4 from the left)  To die for!!!!!

Ok, let me show you some of the food available at Sun Yin Loong :-

all kinds of balls and beancurds

Seafood section. My photography skill is really bad *sigh* I only captured the crabs when there are so many types of fishes, lala, shrimps, cuttlefish, squid and more.

Vegetables

Different types of noodles

Besides steamboat, you can also help yourself to some delicious fried meehoon, sweet and sour chicken and fried chicken. Oh, there are also all-you-can-eat ice-kacang and ice-cream :)

SYL Steamboat Price Board

Last but not least, how can I be at Sun Yin Loong and not order their ice white coffee?

The Address of The Massage Center

Posted on Mar 23, 2009 under good stuff, health | 11 Comments

I know….most mommies who read my post regarding the massage I had on Sunday would like to have one too.  Ok…so here is the address of the massage center:-

A’Lammanda
No. 56 Jalan Hujan Rahmat 2, OUG, KL
Tel:  03 77838332

It is located on the first floor of a shoplot.  At the ground floor, there is a beauty and slimming center called Angel Face.  I think both the massage and beauty centers are owned by the same person.   Oh, btw, the photos I posted earlier are not of the massage center.  I just copied them from some websites.  The one that I went to does not look as classy as the one shown in the photo though. However, it is clean, simple and decorated in Balinese style.  The massage center was opened in Dec 2008.  It is opened till 8pm every day and there are 3 Indonesian lady masseurs. The promotion – rm25 for 1 hour is until the end of March 2009.  After that, it will be rm28 an hour.  There is also a Package Deal going on – rm168 for 6 sessions.  Do email me if you need more info ;)
