just like mommy

Last weekend when we were at the market, Ashley came across a stall which sells lots of toys, Disney character colouring/sticker books, pencil boxes and bags.   As soon as she laid her eyes on the pink Princess bag, I knew she would ask to buy it because she has been asking for a bag *roll eyes*

Yes, I eventually bought it for her because she went on and on about the bag.  Thank God it’s only RM5 (not authentic)  ;)

Ms. Vainpot loves the bag so much that she has been taking the bag out whenever we go out, even to the market.  She has been stuffing a lot of things in her bag and when I checked, these are what I found -

A Barbie bag which we bought for her during Chinese New Year because we couldn’t find a Princess one then, daddy’s old mobile phone, a Barney wallet, a notepad and yes, a dog bone.  Can you believe this?  A dog bone?  My sister bought this bone for the missy’s toy dog.  Will blog about this in another post :D   I had a good laugh when I saw the bone.  Nope….we are not allowed to remove anything from her Princess bag.  I bet the bag weigh at least 1 pound if we were to weigh it on one of those scales.  Ashley told me that she loves this bag and she looks just like me when she goes out *shake head*  Oh, she doesn’t like to sling it. Instead she wants it on her shoulder……just like mommy.

care for some coffee?

I was cleaning my kitchen cabinet over the weekend and this was what greeted me when I opened one of the drawers.

coffee

A drawer full of a variety of instant coffee and also one packet of Teh Tarik (milk tea).  Nope..they are not mine but my MIL.   I didn’t realize that she bought so many different types of coffee.  No wonder she’s always making drinks for herself.  On top of these, there is also a tin of Almond drink.  I know she likes  coffee and is always on the lookout for them whenever she’s at the stores.  Hubs and I love coffee too but we usually drink those canned Nescafe drinks.  So…does anyone like a cuppa?

The Saga Of The Swordtail Fishes

Posted on Mar 26, 2010 under ashley, children, funny | 29 Comments

This is a continuation of Ashley’s first pets post.  The next morning when we came downstairs, we found both the fishes lying on the floor.  Yup, they jumped out of the tank and committed kamikaze.  The lil missy was in tears and asked what happened.  Well, I read somewhere that pets such as fishes are great to teach children about life and death in the world.   So I tried to explain that the fishes jumped out of the tank because the tank didn’t have a cover and they died because there was no water (As you can see, I really don’t know how to tell her about life and death).   We told her that we will buy another pair later in the evening.  She was ok afterwards.

When I was a kid, my favourite TV show was The Cosby Show.  I remember one episode where Rudy Huxtable’s pet goldfish, Lamont  died and the family decided to give it a proper funeral.  They all dressed up and said a few words before flushing Lamont down the toilet.

Therefore, I asked hubs if we should give Upin & Ipin a proper funeral so that Ashley would have a closure.  He just rolled his eyes and threw them into the garbage bag *shake head*  So…we did buy another pair of Upin & Ipin later in the evening.  Guess what?  The next day, they jumped out again eventhough we tried to cover the tank with a badminton racket.  We left some opening at the side of the tank for oxygen and somehow the fishes managed to jump out.  This time, Ashley didn’t cry but said, “Let’s go buy some fishes”…..muahahahahahahahaaaha.  We decided not to buy anymore Swordtail fishes.  We bought 4 guppies instead and they are still swimming happily in the tank now.   Annie & Elaine, are you guys still laughing?

My Kid’s First Pet

We were at Daiso recently and I don’t know what got into hubs that day.  He was very excited when he saw some fish tanks (as if he was checking out www.carolinadesigns.com) and asked Ashley if she wanted to rear some fishes.  Of course, the lil missy said yes as she has been asking for a pet *shake head*  Both of them were so busy checking out the fish tanks and decorations, and finally bought an open-top one.  So the next morning, we brought her to the fish store to get some fishes.

Ashley was so happy to see the fishes in the tanks.  She wanted to buy all.

I brought Ashley to the hair saloon on Friday to get a haircut.  This is the 2nd time she has been to a saloon and this time, she didn’t have to sit on my lap.    I sat next to her and read some fashion and gossip magazines, brochures on weight loss products, while stealing some glances at her from the mirror.  Ashley sat very still on the chair and followed the instructions of the hairstylist who asked her to look down, look up, stay still…etc.  I asked the hairstylist to cut about 3 inches off  so that I would still be able to tie her hair up but she cut an inch more than what I expected.  Bummer.  Can’t tie her hair now and I think she looks different :)

Money Money Money

Posted on Mar 22, 2010 under entertainment | 5 Comments

Have you been listening to our local radio stations lately?  It seems that many of them are being very generous these days.  MyFM, LiteFM, MixFM and RedFM are giving out money to their listeners everyday.  MyFM is giving out RM50 to the winner of their mathematics calculations and LiteFM is giving out a whopping RM5k to the person who can guess all 5 songs and 5 singers correctly.  As for MixFM, they are offering to pay the callers’ credit card bills and RedFM is giving away RM50k to the person who can name the title of the song and artiste correctly.  Of course there is a catch and you would have to listen to the radio station all day.  I hardly listen to the radio except in the morning while driving to work.  Once in the office, there is no way I could listen to the radio.  I don’t even have time to find out about how nutrisystem works. What about you? Have you tried your luck at these radio stations?

Hubs related this to me yesterday.  He took Ashley to the market to look for the pet store and they passed a man selling peacock feathers.

peacock

Here is something similar – a boy selling peacock feather.  I got this photo from Google Image :)

As usual, the lil missy was curious and this was how the conversation went.

Ashley :  “What is the man holding, daddy? “

Hubs :  “He is selling peacock feathers.”

Ashley : *quiet for a while* “Where is the peacock, daddy?”

Hubs :  “Err…..he is somewhere around.”

muahahahahahahahhahahahhhha

Haji Samuri Kajang Satay

Posted on Mar 20, 2010 under diet, family, food | 15 Comments

Last week, hubs suggested that we try the famous Haji Samuri Kajang Satay which has a branch at the Awan Besar rest stop along Kesas Highway.  It’s quite near our house actually :)

Hubs ordered some chicken and beef satays.  The satays were not bad but unfortunately they were cold.  Would be better if they reheated them.

DSC04705

The satay came with a generous bowl of peanut sauce, chilli, cucumbers and some ketupat.  No onions though :(

Hj. Samuri’s satay come in large chunk of meat and ost RM0.60 a stick.  There is a whole range of other kinds of meat such as deer and rabbit. ……….eeewwwwww.  I can only stomach chicken satay.    Hubs think their satay is the best and will be going back for more.  I think I better get ready some phentermine without a prescription if he is going there again.  One thing that puts me off is that there are many cats roaming around the eatery.  Some even sat on the chairs and jumped onto the table to eat the leftovers *slaps forehead*

Treatment For Eczema

Posted on Mar 20, 2010 under friends, health | No Comment

Recently, a friend posted some photos of her 8 month old boy in Facebook and I was shocked to see that her son has very bad eczema.  There were red patches on his cheeks and blisters on his arm.  Poor baby.  My friend has been looking for various eczema treatments but to no avail.   I hope she will be able to find the right treatment soon as it is heartbreaking to see her little son like this.
