our weekend
Posted on Mar 15, 2010 under ashley, family, good stuff | 25 CommentsIt was a pretty hectic weekend for us. Since it’s the school holiday this week, hubs decided to bring Ashley up to the hills to pick strawberries on Saturday. On Sunday, we were out of town the whole day. Phew…luckily I took today off to recuperate
Ok…back to the Strawberry Farm. It is located in Gohtong Jaya. We reached there at around 11am and there were many tourists that day.
Genting Strawberry Leisure Farm
This is how the strawberries are grown here….in a concept farm with fiberglass exterior shutters. Very different from the pick-your-own strawberry farms I’ve been to in Toronto. Over there, we had to squat or bend our back to pick them from the ground. Very back-breaking but the weather was cooling. At the Genting Strawberry Leisure Farm, the strawberries are cultivated in contained planters. Pretty easy to pick / cut them but not very easy to move around the farm because the walkways are quite narrow.
It cost RM8 per 100 gms. Pretty expensive huh?
An excited strawberry-picker with her loot
That’s how many we managed to pick. Couldn’t wait to get out because it was so hot in there.
A visit to a strawberry farm won’t be complete without some strawberry ice-cream and strawberry milkshake
Mmm….nothing like enjoying a cup of ice-cream on a strawberry-shaped table and stool
Quickly moving away because she didn’t want to share her ice-cream with us *roll eyes*
Stay tuned for more updates on where we went next

i personally think its not so sweet. in fact korea strawberries are sweet even though it looks not so red in color
no they are not sweet at all. in fact they are sour
i guess that’s why the ones in cameron highlands are eaten together with sugary powder.
