Buka Puasa Fare
Posted on Aug 31, 2010 under food | 20 CommentsEvery year during Ramadan, hubs and I never fail to visit the Ramadan Bazaar at Seri Petaling. We love the ayam perciks and ikan bakar. Yummy! On Sunday, after checking out the rackmount lcd display at a store, we visited the bazaar for the first time since the Puasa month started. Here’s what we had….
Chicken murtabak on the top left and roti bom (something like roti canai but very sweet). My first time having murtabak and roti bom. Fattening!
chicken satay
Ikan bakar (grilled fish). The bigger fish cost rm5 and the smaller one, rm2.
The only thing that was good were the satay
The flesh of the ikan bakar were hard and there weren’t much chilli stuffed in them. The roti bom was too sweet for my liking and the murtabak was just so-so. Sad to say, I didn’t enjoy the food at all. I think we should try other Ramadan bazaar before the puasa month is over.

I love buying food from these ramadan bazaars too… lots of varieties, but as usual taste not that good. maybe they have to churn out large quantities, thus quality drops. or maybe because the food is prepared while they puasa, so cannot taste to QC!

I like Ramadan bazaar. They have a lot of food to choose from. But sadly nowadays their quality gets worse. Roti bom – the last I had was when I studied in Uni… Now cannot have this lor, after 1 piece I need to run 10km to shed the fat, lol!

I loved the chicken satay in the photo. Sometimes you can find tasty fried chicken in such bazaar (much cheaper and tastier than the KFC version).
But I have yet to come across a Malay stall selling tasty assam laksa, popiah or rojak. Their version is not delicious enough compared to those at Kong Heng,Jalan Bijih Timah or Lok Wui Kui, Clare Street in Ipoh.
Overall, the food sold in such Ramadan bazaar may be colorful, appetising and economical but the quality not up to standard.
