See You Next Year
Posted on Dec 30, 2010 under Uncategorized | 15 CommentsHere’s wishing everyone a great 2011. May the New Year bring you lots of joy, good health and prosperity.

I have been browsing some creative craft blogs lately and have been very inspired by them. Hence, I decided to do something a lil different this year for some of the pressies. When I was reading the New Straits Times last week, I came across a whole page of orange layout.
It was the Season’s Greetings from NSTP and they encouraged the readers to use that page to wrap their gifts. I quickly saved that page and use it for one of the presents that I am planning to wrap.
Here is my plain looking orange present.
Then I decided to cut out a few 5-inch strips from the newspaper (stock exchange pages) and tape the ends together with double-sided tape. This is to create a flower bow as gift topper.
Tadaaaa….a gift with newspaper as wrapper and decoration
What do you think? I hope the recipient of this gift is ok with the recycled wrapping paper
Look at all these cute Gingerbreadmen baked with love by Elaine. They are too cute to be eaten. Thank you very much Elaine. We love them
Gifts for Ashley from Fearles & Cruz
Gifts from Amber
My very sweet-smelling gift from Annie. Love it!
Thank you very much for all the gifts everyone. You guys are awesome!
Christmas celebration is over. In a few more days, we will be ushering the New Year. I cannot believe that 2010 passed by so quickly. Ashley will be in her final year in the kindergarten. I will be a year older soon. Arrggghhhhhh. When I was a kid, I can’t wait to grow up. When I was 8, I want to be 12 and when I was 16, I want to be 20. Now, I am just the opposite. I do not want to get older. I don’t quite look forward to the end of the year and all the festivities because I know I’ll be another year older. Silly me eh? Maybe I ought to take some hgh supplements to look and feel younger.
Ashley and I made this d-i-y 3-tier Christmas Tree after seeing it at AsianMommy.com. Ours kinda look more like an umbrella tree

This is the result of too much tv I think.
Today is the Winter Solstice Festival, which is the 2nd most important festival in the Lunar Chinese Calendar after The Chinese New Year. Tong Yuen (glutinuous rice balls) is most important food in today’s menu
Sadly we won’t be eating any homemade ones. My mom is out of town
So, we’ll make do with some frozen ones like this.

I still remember last year’s celebration. Ashley was having a lot of fun helping my mom to mould the tong yuen. Her energy level was like those rechargeable batteries. She didn’t want to stop making the tong yuen even after we had ran out of flour
Happy Winter Solstice Festival everyone.

We don’t celebrate Christmas but hubs want to get Ashley something during the holiday season. This is because he said when he was a kid, he always wish for a present during Christmas but never gotten any. So, one day he casually asked her.
Hubs : “What do you want for Christmas, Ashley?”
Ashley : “Hmm…..I want a basketball daddy”
Hubs: *Surprised* A basketball? Why do you want a basketball?
Ashley : ” Because Wildcats play basketball, dad“.
Do you know who are the Wildcats? They are the basketball team in High School Musical. It’s all because of him ….

*shake head*
So, there’s no price for guessing what she’ll be getting this Christmas eh? Anything for his princess.
After Ashley is done with her arts class today, we walked around the mall. Except for looking to buy promotional cugs and mugs, we had no intention of getting anything when we went into Ikea but……… we ended up with something really big and heavy. Hubs ended up buying a table with four chairs for the patio. He said he wants to have more gatherings with his buddies at our house
Uh-oh….see who is enjoying the new table and chairs? She brought out her book and a bowl of marshmallows to eat.
Then she decided to ‘open’ a restaurant and cook for all her friends. I bet she’ll be spending more time outside now
Next on hub’s list is a BBQ set. I think we need a bigger home.
I was reading a magazine yesterday and the editors and staff of the magazines talked about their experiences with kind strangers. That brought back memories of what some strangers had done for me. Many years ago while I was in downtown KL, I dropped by purse while alighting from a cab. I was in shock, worried and scared because I didn’t have a handphone then and couldn’t call anyone. There was no money on me too. While pacing up and down looking for my purse, a taxi driver who was waiting nearby saw me and asked me what happened. After I related my problem to him, he gave me RM10 to take a cab home. He wasn’t going my way so he couldn’t send me
I asked for his contact number so that I can repay him but he said there is no need to do so. I was so touched.
The next day, I received a call from the bank. An office boy has found my purse and he handed it to his superior. Since there was no contact number in my purse, his superior called the bank to notify them and to track me down. I quickly went to the office to get my purse. However, the office boy was already out and I couldn’t thank him personally. His superior handed the purse back to me and everything was intact. Bless these kind souls. I was so lucky to have met these generous and kind people.
What is the nicest thing that a stranger has ever done for you? Have a great weekend peeps!
