Last Christmas, hubs Santa gave Ashley a pair of Barbie roller skates. Actually they are rollers with straps to be attached to the shoes. I didn’t know Santa would give her this present. He said she told him that she wished she had a pair of roller skates Of course the missy was happy when she saw the gift.

I was a bit worried that she may fall and hurt herself. Yeah, I’m a Worrier Mum while daddy is the cool one. In case you don’t know, I am a Helicopter Mum too…always hovering out there Anyway, after a week or so, Ashley mastered the art of skating.

Yay…the happy one zipping around the house. Dressed in pink from top to toe *slap forehead* She is waiting for us to take her to the park to skate. I don’t think our park is “skate-friendly’ though

a funny incident at school

Ashley told me this last Thursday when she came back from school. This is what she said – ” Mom, you know something? Today teacher asked me to sweep the floor“. I was surprised and I thought perhaps her class teacher has allocated the chores for the kids in class like cleaning the white board, etc. I remember doing that when I was a kid and enjoyed it. I asked her why and did the rest of the class help out? She replied, “Because I sharpened my colour pencils on the floor. Only me and my friend (the girl sitting next to her) have to sweep the floor“. Hehehehehehehe….These 2 girls have thrown the pencil shavings on the floor. I told her that next time, she has to sharpen the pencils at the dustbin and must not leave the shavings on the floor. She doesn’t do that at home and I wonder why she did it in school. It is good that her teacher is teaching them to be responsible. When you dirty the classroom, you have to clean it up. Then she said something that made me burst out laughing. “Am I the maid now?“ Ashley Oh Ashley!

Thanks for all your well wishes in my earlier post. Ashley is still coughing and has a runny nose. She skipped school on Friday because her cough was pretty bad.

During the New Year holiday weekend, we decided to check out the Empire Shopping Gallery. That was our 2nd time there. I kinda like this mall because it is not that packed and there are some pretty good stores and eateries there. We had dinner inside Jaya Grocer. I’m sure you would be wondering what kind of restaurant is inside a supermarket eh? Hubs spotted The Four Seasons Restaurant which is famous in Bayswater, London for its BBQ Roast Duck. My dad has been raving about Four Seasons in Bayswater and he never fail to eat there every time he goes to London. Well, I guess there is no need to fly to London now The roast duck was good and we will definitely be back for more. Sorry, no pics of the dinner.

Right after dinner time, Ashley spotted the LeX Slide which is the World’s Tallest Indoor Tube Slide. She was so excited and kept bugging us to let her go on the slide. We weren’t that sure we would want her to try it out because the slide is 50 metres ~~ 5 storey high but she was adamant. In the end, we let her have some fun since she said she’s not scared.

Day 1 in a big school

Sorry for the lack of post. Been real busy going back to work after the holiday and also getting Ashley ready for her Primary 1. Yesterday was her first day and it was pretty ok. A bit havoc at the school which is normal for the first few days. Ashley has a bad cough which started on Monday. So I would be going to the school until Friday so that I can give her the medication during recess. The weather is pretty bad these days and so many people are sick. Will update more later. See ya!

Preparing For Primary One

In a week’s time, Ashley will be in Primary One. Someone please hand me a tissue please *sniff* I can still remember the day I gave birth to my precious baby. She has grown so much. From a baby who refused to drink milk at the age of 8 months old which resulted in me having to spoon-feed milk to her till she’s 2, my lil missy is now 6.5 going on to 7. Can’t believe she is going to a big school already.

Wearing her uniform for the first time when she went to the school for extra Mandarin classes during the first 3 weeks of the school holiday.

Her school bag for Primary 1. She is into Power Puff Girls now. I also can’t believe how expensive the school bags are these days. It is even more expensive than what we would pay for a year of roadside assistance service. Cannot imagine families with a few school-going kids. Buying school uniforms, shoes, bags,workbooks and stationery are definitely not cheap.

An A-maze-ing Christmas At Mid Valley Megamall

Mid Valley Megamall is having an A-Maze-ing Christmas this year. The center court is decorated with lots of greenery depicting a maze. I love how green the whole place looks. There are red poinsettias and Christmas hollies everywhere too. The decor is simple but beautiful.

Right in the center of the maze is Santa and he was there waiting for people to take a photo with him. We were there today and when the lil missy saw Santa, she didn’t run away or held on tightly to us like she did the previous years. Instead, she wanted to go near Santa. She read the information board near the maze and told us that we can take a photo with Santa and it cost only RM10 So, off we went eventhough the queue was rather long. The proceeds from the photography session go to Tung Shin Hospital.

Here is our family pic with Santa and Santarina. Too bad the children weren’t give the chance to tell Santa what they wish for this Christmas. Hmm…if that happens, I bet the queue would be much longer. Nevertheless, Ashley was a happy camper. I asked Ashley later why she did not tell Santa what her wish is and she said, “Mom, he’s not a real Santa“. I asked her how does she know he is not real? She said, “He is not from the North Pole and I didn’t see his sleigh“. Hehehehehe…yes, yes, this Santa drove to the mall in his car If you would like to take a pic with Santa, do head over to Mid Valley Megamall. Not sure if he is around on weekdays or not though

Last night was Ladies’ Night for me and a few good friends. We went out for dinner/drinks after work and Ashley was at home with her daddy. I seldom leave her behind and I always say she is like an ‘elephant glue’. I told her a few days ago that I would be going out and she would be staying at home with daddy. She said she’ll miss me … etc. Then last night when I came home, hubs told me something funny. Ashley took a photo of me from the shelf and put it on her table. She said she missed me and wanted to see me when she was eating her dinner and doing her homework….muahahahahahahahahah. This is too funny and I had a good laugh. She is such a silly girl.

under the sea

I was going through Ashley’s books from the kindergarten last week and came across her drawing book. I think her teacher would give them a theme and they have to draw something out. When I saw this page titled “Under The Sea”, I couldn’t help laughing. The sea creatures are so funny. There is an octopus which looks like a spider. A crab that looks like Sebastian from The Little Mermaid. The seaweed looks like a picture from the organic crabgrass killer bottle The funniest of all is the grey shark. Can you spot it?

The shark’s teeth are outside its mouth! This is really hilarious. I asked her to explain her drawings to me and she made up a story about the fishes being caught by the shark’s teeth..etc…hahahahaha. One thing that is constant in all her drawings is the colour pink. At least one object in her drawing must be in PINK!

Ashley loves animals and the last time when we were in Malacca, she was kinda upset that we did not stop at the Malacca Zoo. We brought her there last year and so we decided to skip it. Since she has recovered from hfmd and it’s the long weekend, we took her to the Zoo Negara to see her favourite animals. We were there last year too I think.

The girl armed with a map. She already told us that we have to get her a map so that she’ll know where the locations of the animals are.

First stop is to the Children’s World where the Miniature Horses are. Their names are Hobbit and Wizard. Aren’t they cute?

We managed to catch the Live Show at the Zoo Amphitheatre. We saw performances by the eagles, parakeets, seal and an 18-year old sea lion named Bart.

Flocks of Flamingoes. The missy was thrilled to see her favourite Pink animal/birds. That was the first thing she checked out from the map She even wore her Flamingo hairband just so that the flamingoes may think that she is one of them…hahahahaha

One of the highlights of the zoo trip is seeing the mudskippers in the Aquarium section. This is our first time seeing this fish. Ashley was thrilled to see fishes that could walk and skip She saw one with only one eye and she felt really sorry for the poor mudskipper as I told her that the fish has dropped its eye somewhere.

Besides the above, we saw goats, mousedeers, birds, reptiles, cats, storks, pelicans, elephants, giraffes, fishes, bears, apes, monkeys, crocodiles, birds, tortoise, etc. The zoo was packed with visitors on Sunday. The sky started to look gloomy when we left at around 1pm. It was a very fun trip and the missy said we have to go back again next year
