Posted on Nov 25, 2011 under ashley | 8 Comments

One week has passed since the school holidays started.  This week has been a stressful one for me because of the darn HFMD.  Ashley is feeling a lot better today and can open her mouth to scream yak :) So happy happy.  Time to enjoy the long weekend.  Do you all have anything planned?  We are looking forward to something fun this weekend.  Hope y’all have a great one.

The missy is having a fun time with face painting today.  She went around the office drawing on everyone’s hands and legs :)

……….. shopaholic :)

clips

Ashley’s stash of hairbands and hairclips.

I just cannot resist each time I see the hair accessories for girls.  Perhaps it’s because I didn’t have them when I was a kid?  When Ashley was a baby and up till about 2 years old, she did not want to have anything on her hair.  Luckily she did not mind when got older.  I love buying them.  I think all girls should have pretty hair bands and hair clips :)   Besides shopping for clothes and shoes, I am into hair accessories for my daughter as well.  Can’t imagine what would happen if I am addicted to buying mobile computer workstations eh?

The latest loot ;)   I got her the flamingo hair tie because flamingoes are her favourite animals since they are pink.

Thanks for all the comments earlier.  Ashley woke up today and told me that her throat hurts very much.  She refused to drink any water which is a big no no.  After much coaxing, she drank her some.  Managed to eat a small piece of waffle and then yoghurt.  She doesn’t want any milk either.   I asked Dinah about the gel she gave her kids when they had hfmd a few months ago.  I want to get it for Ashley to reduce the pain caused by the darn ulcers.

gel

Aloclair Gel for mouth ulcers.  Managed to find it after visiting 4 different pharmacies.   I wish they have the spray type which can easily get to the ulcers on the throat.   I applied a few drops inside her mouth one hour before meal.  Then I gave her noodle in soup for lunch.   She managed to eat it without much complain.  I also heard her humming to some songs she was listening to :)

day 2 in crabby land

Mood :         Extremely crabby

Reason :      The ulcers are very bad and they are causing her a lot of pain *heartbreaking*

Diet :          Porridge for lunch and dinner

Yoghurt / Vitagen

Candies coated with the mouth gel to numb the pain

Water (refusing to drink much but is forced to drink)

Activities :   Lying on the bed and playing with the iPhone

Gargling her throat with salt water

Watching Mr. Bean on Youtube

Can’t wait to hear her laughter and seeing her do all kinds of silly antics.

Update :  Red spots have started appearing on her feet, hand and buttocks.

The dreaded abbreviation.  It has finally arrived at our household. No prize for guessing who got it :(   Ashley complained that her throat was painful last week.  There was also an ulcer inside her mouth. I thought maybe she was heaty because she gets ulcers once in a while.  I got her to gargle her mouth more often with salt water and gave her Esberitox as she has a bit of a runny nose too.

Her ’sore throat’ went away after 2 days and I thought nothing about it.  Then yesterday evening, she said her throat is painful again.  I didn’t check her mouth and let her resume the salt water mouth gargle.  This morning, she said she may need to see the doctor as her throat is very painful :(   Once the paed checked it, he said, “oh dear, her mouth is full of ulcers”.   There are no spots on her body.

Can you spot the reddish spots inside her mouth?  They are the darn ulcers and are everywhere, even on her throat :(

SAM_2103

Medication which consists of a cold meds, Nurofen for the pain, gel to numb the mouth and Esberitox.  No antibiotics as it doesn’t help, according to the paed.  He also said to give her lots of yoghurt and ice-cream if she doesn’t feel like eating.

last day of school

Today is the last day of school. I am having mixed feelings because it is Ashley’s last day at the kindergarten. Can’t help remembering the first time I sent her to the kindergarten when she was 4.  In 1.5 months time, my baby will be in the ‘Big School’ (that’s what she has been telling me excitedly).  Time to cut loose those apron strings. I felt kinda sad walking her into her school this morning because she would have to say Goodbye to her teachers and friends later.  Ok, let’s move on to what I prepared for her friends in school today.

I bought some cookies since I don’t have an oven to bake them :)

Spent last night cutting out the heart shapes from red wrapping papers and glued them onto the dollies.  My hubby who was busy reading the Nitro RC Cars magazine even stopped to help me glue them :)

Arranged the cookies in the zip bag

Nom Nom…all ready for the kids.

Sports and Concert Day 2011

As mentioned in my previous post, today is Ashley’s Sports and Concert Day.  It was held at the stadium this morning.  The missy was so excited and kept asking us how long it takes to arrive at the stadium.  She was a tad worried when there’s traffic jam along the way.  Below are some of the photos I took.

The decoration.  Looks like a mini Asean game eh?

s2

Ashley with her good friend, Cara.  They are getting ready for the dance.  I only put minimal makeup on her :)

s3

Ashley and her friends dancing away to the song, “Hey Mickey” by Toni Basil.  You know the song?  “Oh Mickey, you’re so fine. You’re so fine, you blow my mind, hey Mickey, hey Mickey“. One of my favourite songs in the 80’s. Their performance was the opening ‘act’ for the event.  I don’t have a good camera, hence couldn’t zoom in to Ashley.  She’s one of the girls who are holding the red pom pom.

After this, there were dances performed by the nursery/kindergarten children as well as those from the kindergarten’s other branches .   The sport events took place after the performances.

Ashley only took part in this “Fruits Galore” event.  The kids had to pick up a paper from the basket and run to the other end and pin the paper onto the fruit board.

The concert/sports day ended at around 12pm but we left early.  Ashley said she had fun and kept asking us if we saw her performance :)

here we go again…

Ashley’s concert/sports day will be held tomorrow.  She will be participating in a dance routine and I have been looking forward to seeing her costumes.  She brought them back yesterday :)

Ashley has been telling me that she is so excited and can’t wait for her concert/sports day.  Well, I am pretty excited too :)

Breakfast For The Princess

Whenever we have Japanese food, I would always order Chawan Mushi.  I love how smooth and tender the egg texture is and wonder what kind of special restaurant equipment were used to make them.  I was lazy to google for the recipe until I saw Chanel blogging about it.  Chawan Mushi is so easy to make.  Ashley does not eat the ones we order at the Japanese restaurant but she would eat the ones I make for her during breakfast :) Below is the recipe from Shojikiya and that’s where I bought the Shiro Dashi from.

I usually put in a crabstick and mushroom.  Just whisk the egg gently and be careful not to bubble it so that you would get a smooth texture.

Sprinkle some pepper on top when done. Simply delectable.

Ashley brought back her graduation photo yesterday.  It was in a yellow hardcover album with a certificate stating that she has completed her pre-school education and also a class photo.  I posted her graduation photo in facebook and many of you have seen it already :P   I feel like crying each time I see her grad photo :(   Time flies.

My baby look so grown up here *sniff*

Then I remember I have a graduation pic too which was taken some 20 years ago :P   Don’t laugh. Ashley sure doesn’t look like me eh?
