Bargains At Cotton On Kids

We went to Sheoh Yan’s favourite mall yesterday – Sunway Pyramid for some last-minute Christmas shopping. One of the must visit shops is of course Cotton On Kids. Right now, they are having a 30% sale on everything. While looking around the store, I saw this RM1 section. I cannot believe my eyes! Hanging on the wall are necklaces, hairbands, wooden alphabets for decorating the room. And the best thing is ……………there is a further 30% off RM1!! Only 70 cents for each item! Here’s what I got.

Good deal eh? What can you buy with 70 cents nowadays? All these items were priced at RM15 each before the sale. Too bad there are no clothing or socks for RM1. I regret not buying more for my friends’ kids. Not sure if they have the same things at the outlet in 1Utama. Perhaps I should hop over one of these days.

Children’s Day Goodies Bags

Ashley’s kindy is celebrating Children’s Day tomorrow. Inspired by a craft I saw at Pinterest, I made something for her classmates We went to the supermarket for our regular grocery shopping, bumble and bumble shampoos and also to get these for the Children’s Day project ….

Candies, Chocs & Marshmallows. I put all these into a long plastic bag which is meant for making ‘Ice-Cream Potong’. They were given to me by Annie. To seal the bags, I got the inspiration from Zakka Life (http://www.zakkalife.blospot.com) to make some Twist Tie with colourful masking tapes.

First I bought some wires from the DIY store.

Cut a piece of wire and place in the center of the tape.

Place another piece of tape on top and voila, I have a cute Twist Tie.

This is how I twist tie the goody bag.

These are the goody bags….all set for the kids tomorrow.

Gardenia Delicia Waffles

Have you tried the latest product from Gardenia? It is waffle in a few different flavours. There are Blueberry, Banana, Classic Cinnamon, Fresh Egg Vanilla and Maple Wholemeal. So far I managed to get Banana and Blueberry only. Ashley loves them. She said she wants to have waffles for breakfast every day

Schoolwork For A 6 Year Old

Last week, hubs went to Ashley’s school to get her homework since she did not go to school for 3 days. In the stack of 13 books, there were 2 workbooks (one in English and one in Bahasa Malaysia) which I have never seen before. I think these 2 workbooks are for the children to do in school. When I flipped over to the page which Ashley is supposed to do, I was surprised to see this…

Do you think this is tough for a kindergarten kid? I don’t think I know what is the meaning of low on fuel when I was 6. I’m not sure what current teaching training involves, but maybe school authorities need to re-visit their online elementary education degrees to see what curriculum is age appropriate.

Asia? Visit Malaysia Year? You gotta be kidding me. I explained to Ashley what it was about and where to fill in the correct words. She doesn’t understand at all I wonder who came out with these exercises for the kindergarten. Is Primary 1 tougher than this? What is your opinion?

I really must stop buying but I couldn’t resist when I saw how cute these elephants are. Yes, I’m currently obsessing over elephants. There is just something about these mystical gentle giants that make my heart melt. Below are some of my recent clothing purchases for Ashley. How To Ensure My Child Gets Enough Nutrients

Whenever some of our relatives meet Ashley, they would comment that she is not putting on weight. She is growing taller but not chubbier. My concern is not so much about her weight. I just want Ashley to have a strong immune system. Kids are exposed to bacteria and viruses in their daily lives. It is easy for them to end up sick constantly. One of my least favourite times as a parent is when I see my child gets sick. It is heartbreaking when our child has fever, lethargic and lost his/her appetite. The key to a healthy child is a strong immune system.

Besides encouraging her to eat her fruits daily, drink plenty of water and have a good amount of rest, I have also switched her milk powder to the new Mamil Gold Step 4 recently. A great way to add some whimsy to your kid’s food is by using colourful food picks. I saw these new food picks at 100 Yen last weekend.

Aren’t they the cutest? While I don’t do bento lunches because it requires a lot of patience which I lack, I use food picks to spice up some of Ashley’s snacks/fruits. The ones above are for a friend and also my 3 year old niece in Toronto. I hope she’ll be delighted to see these food picks when her mom uses them for her fruits. Every now and then, 100 Yen or Daiso come out with new food pick designs. I love shopping there. Oh that reminds me that I have to start looking for gifts for gradnparents day I also bought a Hello Kitty cutlery set for my niece.

Nice? I’m not sure if there are many Hello Kitty stuff in Toronto. I hope my niece likes it

tea party at school

This is a back-dated post. Ashley’s school had a Tea Party last Friday to celebrate the end of the First Term (or is it the 2nd term?). I wanted to prepare something for the class and came up with this simple party pack.

I got some these colourful tapes from Mr. DIY store.

I also bought these from Daiso ~~ RM5 for 3.

I filled the small plastic bags with marshmallows and seal them with the tapes above

I bought some paper cups to be used as little pails. Punched 2 holes at the sides and tied a piece of twine as holder. I jazzed up the cups by pasting the colourful tape around them.

Here are my simple party packs for the Tea Party. I put a packet of marshmallows and a strawberry wafer in a cup for each kid. I enjoyed doing these very much. I wish there are more parties or birthday celebrations so I can crack my brain and think of something

My DIY Party Packs

Time to reveal what lil project I had been working on Hmmm, judging from the title of my post, I am sure you all know what they are already. I was kinda busy for the past few weeks as I was looking for ideas on how to do the party packs for Ashley’s picnic birthday celebration. I wanted to do something different after seeing all those craft blogs out there. So creative and inspiring! Can you imagine creating something from petroleum hose? Anyway, I decided to do Flower Lollipops for the girls and Superheroes Lollipops for the boys. I got the Superheroes Lollipops idea from www.zakkalife.blogspot.com.

First, I cut out heart shapes from brown paper bags and colourful paper dividers that you get from binder files. Punch a hole at the end of the heart shape.

Got some lollies from Daiso and also Chup Chups

Slide the lollies into the heart-shaped papers. Voila…flower lollipops

I got the template for the superheroes capes and masks from Zakka Life. Printed and cut them out. Punched a hole at the top of the cape and slide in the lollipop.

I got some white paper bags from my sister and pasted the thank-you note on the front. Managed to find 2 superheroes and a fairy in pink cartoon *smile*

Recently, my friend gave Ashley a packet of Organic Candy Drops by Yummy Earth. This is the first time I have come across this brand of candies. Yummy Earth is the No. 1 Organic Candies in the USA. They are made with real fruit extracts, contain no artificial dyes, are gluten free, nut free, dairy free and etc. Plus they taste really good and not too sweet. I’ve tried a few

Last week, hubs spotted the organic fruit lollipops at Bangsar Village and he quickly bought one packet. The individually-wrapped lollies come in Strawberry Smash, Tooberry Blueberry and Razzmatazz Berry flavour (what a tongue-twister).
