Every morning after I have dressed Ashley up for school, we would go downstairs where I would give her some water to drink. Then I’ll start preparing her breakfast which is usually bread with jam. Ashley will have her milk about half an hour later at the coffeeshop where we go to every morning before sending her to school.

I also prepare a snack for her to eat in school. It could be a piece of bread with jam, cereals like Fruit Loops or Honey stars or her favourite garlic bread/sausage bun from the bakery near my home . I put them in her pink container which I got from Daiso. Just the other day, one of her classmates celebrated his birthday in school and Ashley was given a piece of cake. She couldn’t finish the cake and brought it home in her container. Guess what? The chocolate cake which is full of cream spilled into her bag because she doesn’t know how to close the container properly. It is actually quite hard to close
I had to clean her bag thoroughly and wipe away all the cream from her bag *pulls hair*
When I went to buy Mamil Gold yesterday, they gave me a free lunch box. It is so cute and Ashley told me immediately that she wants to bring the lunch box to school this week. The lunch box is air-tight and most importantly, easy to close. It states on the brochure (or promotional banner) that the free lunch box promotion runs from 1 May until 31 May.

Since we are on the subject of milk powder, have you seen The Three Little Houses TV commercial by Mama Mil? Ashley enjoys this commercial very much and she kept playing it over and over again as it is entertaining. It features children wearing cut-out boxes depicting different houses and only one house is the strongest of all. She told me that the video is like the story of The Three Little Pigs. You know, the three little piggies who built 3 different types of houses hoping that the wolf would not be able to blow it down? In the end, the brick house is the strongest to withstand the wolf’s huffing and puffing, just like children who have strong immune system will be able to fight off germs, viruses and bacteria. Ashley said she wants to be strong like the boy in the brick house. She even told me to make her a brick house *shake head* Check out the video when you have the time. I am sure your little ones will enjoy it.

When I did my ’short trip to Ipoh’ post recently, a few people asked me about Ashley’s top with a blue necklace. Some of you asked if I made the necklace myself. Ahhh…if only I am good at sewing. I should have taken up Home Science during my secondary school days
Sorry side-tracked a bit. I bought Ashley’s top from Cotton On. I just love its kids’ collection. They are so funky. What made me buy the top is the eye-catching cloth necklace.

This is the cute necklace

the necklace is pinned to top with snap buttons on both shoulders. Cool huh?
I removed the necklace before I put the top in the laundry. It comes in dark blue, green and white/beige and cost RM19. Pretty affordable eh? You know, I wish Cotton On Kids is available in Mid Valley or 1 Utama and not just in Sunway Pyramid. I really don’t like going there much because it’s like a maze and the shops are scattered all over the mall. I only go to Sunway Pyramid because of Cotton On Kids

For the past 1 month, Ashley has been on antibiotics because of the abscess on her knee. The first bottle was from her paed for a week, the 2nd bottle was from a GP which I took her to see for 2nd opinion and then followed by 10 days of antibiotic given by the paediatric surgeon who treated the abscess. I was really worried about her taking too much of it. When I asked the surgeon, he said there is no choice but to prescribed because of the bacteria infection. After I voiced my concern, he prescribed Ashley with a box of Restore Probiotic. This is to restore friendly bacteria

a box of 15 sachet. Ashley is to take one a day.
Probiotics has a list of good health-promoting characteristics such as
To maintain a correct microbial balance in the human intestines;
To kill a large number of disease-causing bacteria, yeasts and viruses;
To stop diarrhoea and constipation
To produce a number of vitamins;
To alleviate the symptoms of lactose intolerance;
To prevent some forms of colon cancer;
To prevent and treat some forms of food allergies;
To decrease flatulence.
Don’t I sound like someone from the medical assistant school? *wink*

The paediatric surgeon also suggested that Ashley takes a bottle of Yakult every day. It helps to balance the digestive system, improve nutrient absorption and boost natural defenses. He told us that he drinks one bottle a day
Since it is a recommendation from the doctor, we have been giving her a bottle a day. Do you let your children take Probiotics? What about Yakult?

When we were in Jonker Street, Malacca recently, I chanced upon a stall selling paper dolls. Seeing them definitely brings back cherished memories of my childhood. I used to play them with my sisters. The paper dolls came with outfits for all kinds of occasion. I also remember creating my own outfits for the paper dolls.

There are 3 different sets for sale and I bought all of them for Ashley. It cost 50 cents per piece.

Here is the missy playing with the paper doll with her por por. She prefers those with dresses like a princess
Did you play with them when you were a kid? They are such endearing childhood treasure. I would prefer Ashley to play with paper dolls than Barbie dolls

Many months ago, I wrote about my friend’s baby boy’s problem with eczema. His hands and body were covered with eczema and it was heartbreaking to see him like that. After reading my post, a few of my blog readers were so kind to email me with some advice and where to find eczema cream that works.I was so touched by their kindness. I told them that I would pass the message to my friend. Guess what? My friend did not reply to my email or the message in facebook. Oh well, so much for wanting to help people. I hope her son no longer suffers from eczema. I do see their photos in facebook sometimes but her baby is always wearing long sleeves hence I can’t really see his hands.

I read something quite interesting yesterday. It is about the popular Time Out method of child disciplining. I am sure many of us have tried this method when unacceptable behaviour occurs. Misbehave children are told to sit at a corner or go to their room to calm down and think about what they did. According to what I read, the Time Out is actually meant to give parents time to calm down and re-organize our feelings rather than as a punishment for our kids. This is because the children would not learn anything from this. To them, they would just be thinking “when mummy is going to let me out”. Interesting eh?

I was flipping the magazine a while ago and I came upon an ad for Gap Kids. It features a pretty 9 year old girl, Kayleigh wearing Gap’s best fitting premium jeans for kids – The Super Skinny. Guess how much it cost?

RM115 *ouch* Pretty pricey, don’t you think? With that money, I rather invest in gold bullion. Actually, I did not know that retailers are selling skinny jeans for kids. There are skinny jeans for babies as well. Though the skinny jeans are quite stylish, do you think the kids would have enough room to do activities that require movements when wearing them? Would you dress your kids in skinny jeans?

Full moon is the first month after the birth of a child. During this time, Chinese parents often celebrate with a dinner or a party. It is a customary practice for the Chinese to buy a full moon gift for the baby. My cousin’s baby is due this October and my mom was telling me that a few of my cousins are planning to buy a gift for her baby. They have been looking around for a nice gift when one of them suggested to buy a gold bullion gift. There is no better gift than a gift of gold because it is a unique investment.
