We were in Bangsar Village recently and I chanced upon this cute shop called Sundays. At first I thought it was a shop selling home decor stuff. When I went into the shop, I discovered that it is actually a shop with bits of everything. You can find furniture, kitchen ware, hanging address plaques, candles, soaps and other knick-knacks. What caught my eyes are the Japanese Washi Tapes which are also known as Japanese Masking Tapes. I have seen these tapes from online stores in the US or Etsy but I didn’t know they are available here in KL. You all know how much I love to wrap gifts eh? More so using brown kraft paper. Japanese Washi Tapes are great for decorating the gifts wrapped in brown kraft paper.

Here is an example of Japanese Washi Tapes on brown boxes/packages. Nice? Image via thesweetestoccasion.com.

Here’s what I got – RM10 for the plain one and RM13 for the other. Pretty pricey huh?
I have been using the tapes which I bought from Daiso and Mr. DIY to decorate the gift bags. Below are some of creations I did.

Can’t wait to use my new tapes. So if you are looking for Japanese Washi Tapes, just swing by Sundays at BV. (fyi, Sundays didn’t ask me to blog about them)

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow so I thought I would do a Valentine’s Day craft just for fun. I saw this Paper Flower tutorial by Wanda Wen on yahoo.com yesterday. If you don’t want real flower for V Day, you may try making this for your loved ones. Below are the steps …

I used the Japanese Fancy Paper which I bought from Daiso.

Take out a piece and put the blank page facing up.

Ashley doing the paper flower too

Glue the 5 petals together using double sided tape. Below are the last steps.

I used an orange crepe paper and a bamboo chopstick to make the stem. First, cut out a piece of crepe paper and use it to wrap the top part of the bamboo chopstick.

Slide the chopstick through the middle of the flower to create an orange stigma. Here’s my simple d-i-y Paper Flower.
Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone.

I bought a pair of Vietnamese lanterns last year to hang at the porch. After a year, the colours on one side of the lanterns are fading. Inspired by Sasha’s feat last year, I decided to give my lanterns a makeover.

Can you see the lighter shade on one side?

I used some fake peonies and cherry blossom to cover the fading part of the lanterns
This is the first time I use a glue gun and I got burned a few times…hehehehe.

Ta da….. here are my lanterns after the makeover. I spent about rm30 on the fake peonies and cherry blossoms for this DIY.

When we were in Mid Valley recently, I stumbled upon their Christmas newsletter. Oh how I adore them. The newsletter has a vintage feel to it. They are free for shoppers to take and I found them at the information booth. I took 2 pieces home (should have taken more …hehehehhee).

Nice eh?

The inside of the newsletter. I decided to use one piece for gift-wrapping. I am keeping the other piece. So precious!

All wrapped.

As gift topper, I used a piece of crepe paper from China to create a paper flower. I prefer its texture and thickness. I also used the YRSNÖ ribbon from Ikea to decorate the gift box.

Here is the gift wrapped with Mid Valley newsletter…all ready for the Christmas party

Christmas is just days away. I better post this up before the Holidays is over. I decided to dress up the tree branches with the little lantern balls I got from Ikea last year.

I also made some stars using toilet paper rolls. Got this craft idea from Pinterest.

My stash of toilet paper rolls

Painted the rolls red

The missy helping me to paint them. As usual, she only wants pink colour.

Once dried, flatten the roll and cut them into 1 inch thick leaves.

Glue the pieces together to form a star shape.

I made a bunch of red, pink and original colour toilet paper roll stars. Used a red ribbon to create a hanger and the stars are ready to be hanged.

Here is my simple Christmas branch decorated with the lantern balls, red ornaments and the d-i-y toilet paper rolls.

This is a back dated post. A few months ago, I was invited to attend the full moon of a dear friend’s daughter. I decided to make a gift bag for the newborn’s presents.

This is the gift bag which I made using kraft paper.

I got some cute Japanese Fancy Paper from Daiso and cut out 2 elephant shapes from a template I got online.

These are cardboards which I recycled from a mooncake box. I used bits of them to create the gift tag.

Another ellie template I got online. I cut out the elephant from a piece of pink paper and also from the recycled cardboard. Glued them together to form a thick gift tag. I used a brown cardboard to form its ear.

This is the Ellie theme gift bag I made for my friend’s newborn baby girl
You all know how much I adore elephants eh?

I was going through Ashley’s books from the kindergarten last week and came across her drawing book. I think her teacher would give them a theme and they have to draw something out. When I saw this page titled “Under The Sea”, I couldn’t help laughing. The sea creatures are so funny. There is an octopus which looks like a spider. A crab that looks like Sebastian from The Little Mermaid. The seaweed looks like a picture from the organic crabgrass killer bottle
The funniest of all is the grey shark. Can you spot it?

The shark’s teeth are outside its mouth! This is really hilarious. I asked her to explain her drawings to me and she made up a story about the fishes being caught by the shark’s teeth..etc…hahahahaha. One thing that is constant in all her drawings is the colour pink. At least one object in her drawing must be in PINK!

Ashley’s kindy is celebrating Children’s Day tomorrow. Inspired by a craft I saw at Pinterest, I made something for her classmates
We went to the supermarket for our regular grocery shopping, bumble and bumble shampoos and also to get these for the Children’s Day project ….

Candies, Chocs & Marshmallows. I put all these into a long plastic bag which is meant for making ‘Ice-Cream Potong’. They were given to me by Annie. To seal the bags, I got the inspiration from Zakka Life (http://www.zakkalife.blospot.com) to make some Twist Tie with colourful masking tapes.

First I bought some wires from the DIY store.

Cut a piece of wire and place in the center of the tape.

Place another piece of tape on top and voila, I have a cute Twist Tie.

Made a bunch of them

This is how I twist tie the goody bag.

These are the goody bags….all set for the kids tomorrow.

Ashley asked why we did not get a pumpkin since Halloween is coming. Thanks to all the Halloween decor at the malls and also the cartoon shows. She also said she wants to go trick-o-treating. Anyway, I was blog-hopping at some craft blogs and came across this cool idea and decided to surprise Ashley with a pumpkin.

It’s “Mr. Wilson Pumpkin“. I used her basketball as it has the same shade as the pumpkin. Cut out the eyes, eye brows and mouth from a piece of black paper and tape them onto the ball.

The missy was thrilled and asked to take a photo with her ‘pumpkin’
Have a Spooktacular weekend everyone
