I was kinda lazy to cook after a long day out today so I went to the fridge to check out what I can make in a jiffy. I saw a packet of Whole Wheat Tortilla which I got from Tesco last week. Totally forgotten about this.

Luckily I had some Honey Glazed Ham in the freezer too

Fried some eggs.

Put 1 tsp of mayonnaise made with free range eggs from Tesco onto the tortilla as well as a piece of ham, egg and lettuce. Roll everything up and It’s a Wrap! A simple and yummy dinner for us.

got everything laid out on the table. We had dinner at the porch that night. The weather was cooling due to the drizzle. It was fun.

Steamboat or Hotpot. Took about 2 hours to boil the soup base, wash the food, fry garlic oil and etc. Took 30 minutes to finish everything *burp* We should do this more often

On Saturday, we attended the wedding dinner of my cousin, Carla Soong at 7atenine, Ascot. It was a buffet dinner and we were seated upstairs. Downstairs was for friends of the newly-weds. We have been attending the traditional 10-course wedding dinner all the while, so Carla’s wedding was our first time at a non-traditional dinner complete with a live band downstairs The buffet spread consisted of seafood spaghetti, linguine, fried rice, sushi, lamb, spicy chicken, fish, prawn, creme brulee and etc. Here are some of the photos taken on that night.

Ashley was so excited to see her Carla yee yee. She thinks that all brides are princesses wearing long flowing dresses. Ashley finally got to take a photo with her Princess Carla yee yee. Sitting beside Ashley is Carla’s dad.

We left 7atenine at around 10pm and were caught in a slight jam near The Beach Club. Boy, haven’t been to that part of the city for such a long time. Didn’t miss much I guess…that area is still filled with foreigners and spgs

An Early Mother’s Day Celebration

Hubs brought us, including my mil and my mom to a new Hong Kong style steamboat restaurant to celebrate Mother’s Day. Shireen has written about this Hot Pot Bone Essense Steamboat at Kuchai Lama and I told hubs that we have to try it one day, since we love steamboat Here are some photos of the food.

Deep Fried Silken Tofu as appetizer

I love their special broth. We ordered the pork bone soup and tomatoes/potatoes soup. Both are so delicious.

There are 2 sets here which are meant for 2 persons. Can you see the white squarish thing on the plate? They are Ice Tofu which can be eaten raw. A specialty from Hong Kong but we cooked them in the soup

We really enjoyed this Hot Pot Bone Essense steamboat. We will definitely return to try the other broths. Before this, I will have to get ready some of the best weight loss supplements for I know I will overeat each time

Dining At IOI Boulevard

When we were at IOI Boulevard recently,we dined at our favourite restaurant – Otak Otak Place. Besides serving very good food, we also like the ambiance of this restaurant. It is filled with lots of quirky and old school memorabilia such as green plastic soldiers, flasks, marbles and more. Have you been to Otak Otak Place before?

100 degree Celsius Steamboat

Last Sunday, we felt like having steamboat for dinner so hubs suggested that we try the 100 Degree Celsius Steamboat in Kuchai Lama since we always pass by this restaurant but have not tried it. What’s unique is their special types of soups. There are 11 different soups to choose from such as Original, Tom Yum, Porridge Soup, Curry, Fish Head Soup, Herbal Soup, Bak Kut Teh, Golden Porridge Soup, Sweet & Sour Soup and etc. Being non-adventurous types, we ordered Original soup which is actually plain broth What I also like is the different sauces available to go with the steamboat.

We ordered the rm39.90 set for 3 of us. Check out the different sauce we took. I had the Hainanese chilli sauce, sweet garlic sauce, sambal with lots of garlic and oil with fried shallots.

Everyone has their own pot of soup

There are 2 types of sitting arrangements in this restaurant. One is the regular table and chairs and the other is the traditional Japanese Tatami style where we have to remove our shoes and sit on timber flooring with our legs under the table. This is the first time Ashley tried this seating arrangement and she was pretty excited that we all left our shoes at the bottom of the stairs. She was dancing and rolling on the timber flooring *slaps forehead* Here she is doing a yoga pose.

Overall, we like the ambiance and the food although I felt very thirsty after dinner. Must be the MSG in the chilli/garlic sauce. We’ll definitely go back again to try other soup base…maybe Bak Kut Teh?

Reunion Dinner

Last night we had our reunion dinner with hubs’ family at a Chinese restaurant near our house. The dinner was sumptuous and it was the first time that his cousin and family joined us for dinner. Tonight there will be another dinner at a hotel with his uncle and family. Boy, all these eating will surely expand my waistline. I better look for the best slimming pills after the new year celebration. So how was your Reunion Dinner?

I have been wanting to go to this place for so long and finally, we went last night with a couple of our friends. It is the Ampang Look Out Point. I think this is the coolest and most unique place to have dinner in KL. At the Ampang Look Out Point, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking view of the KL city. We left home at around 6.15pm and passed through Pandan /Ampang. After going uphill on a winding road at the speed of an F1 driver, we reached this place at around 7pm. Boy, was I hungry. There are a few nice restaurants around and last night we chose this one.

The Haven serves Western and Local dishes.

Ordered Spaghetti Chicken Bolognaise for Ashley. It’s under the Kid’s menu but guess what? The chef sprinkled some chilli flakes around the plate. I’m like err…Hello??? Isn’t this dish under Kid’s menu? Chilli flakes? I didn’t make a fuss because Ashley was very hungry. I just used a tissue to wipe the chilli flakes around the plate. Some went into the spaghettis already but luckily Ashley didn’t notice them

I had Fish & Chips. How adventurous eh?

The rest ordered Grilled Lamb Chop, Grilled Beef & Sausage, Spring Chicken and Steak. I didn’t take any photos of their food as I was busy eating mine Food was pretty good but there was a little problem. My friend’s order did not arrive while the rest of us were eating. When we checked with the waitress, she had actually left out the order and that order (Grilled Lamb Chop) takes about 20 mins to be readied. My friend had to wait again for her meal Perhaps this restaurant needs some help in the order fulfillment area.

The Ampang Look Out Point is a great place to hangout with your family and friends. I heard some even proposed there. How romantic eh? I wonder if the restaurants are open in the morning. It would be wonderful to sit there, having a cuppa and enjoying the beautiful view. All of us enjoyed this place very much and will be returning to try other restaurants in the following weeks.

We came back yesterday afternoon. Tired but it was fun. Ate a lot of good food at the wedding dinners. We attended 2 dinners (the bride’s side on Friday and the groom (my cousin’s) side on Saturday). Spent most of Saturday at my aunt’s house for the tea ceremony. We didn’t have much time this trip so I didn’t get to meet up with my good friends. Sorry girls

Ashley was pretty bored though and kept telling us that she wanted to go back to KL She said she misses her toys and Playhouse Disney She even asked why there was no Playhouse Disney channel at the hotel.

I didn’t snap a lot of photos because I forgot about my camera most of the time *shake head* Here are some that I took at the dinners.

When we woke up on Sunday, hubs asked me what I wanted to have for dinner. I told him that I would like to have Japanese food When we were deciding which restaurant to go too, I received a call from my mom and she told us that my cousin, Carla is giving us a treat since her family is in KL for a visit. Another cousin is back from the States too so all of us were treated to a dinner at Dragon-I in Mid Valley on Mother’s Day The restaurant was so crowded and we had to wait for our tables eventhough my cousin had made reservations. We finally got to eat at 8.30pm. It was an 8-course dinner and I forgot to snap pictures of the first four dishes *slap forehead* Here are what we had towards the end of the dinner.

We left the restaurant at around 10.30pm……way past Ashley’s bedtime. She was pretty tired at around 9.30pm and kept asking us to leave Luckily she did not make a big fuss and her aunts are around to keep her entertained It was a good and heavy dinner.
