We don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day, even during the courtship days. You can tell how unromantic we are. Hubs said it’s because we are Capricorns, who are known to be practical and prudent
I wanted to have steamboat after seeing a new restaurant in the flyer last week. Therefore, we decided to give this new place a try. Unfortunately, we had misplaced the flyer but hubs said he knew where this restaurant is. Off we went and after 30 mins, we still couldn’t find the restaurant. So we gave up and went to another one. Should have looked up the gps map as soon as we saw the flyer. Anyway, we went to this place …..

Shabu Garden. Our first time there.

The assorted sauces to go with the steamboat

I ordered the chicken soup base.

This was my set. It cost rm27.
I forgot to take a pic of hubs’ order. He took the beef set which consist of a plate of 20 slices of beef, vege, mushrooms and tofu. The steamboat was ok, nothing special about the food. We were out for almost 2 hours and on the way back, the lil missy who was at home with her grandma, called me on the handphone. She asked why we were still not back yet and why we were taking so long to have our dinner. Doesn’t she sound like a mother-in-law?

Thanks everyone for all the birthday wishes in Facebook and smses
I really appreciate all the sweet wishes. To celebrate my 30th birthday, we had steamboat dinner tonight. It’s my favourite
Yummy!

This photo was not taken by me. I forgot the camera hence I googled it
We had a similar one – half soup and half tom yam *burp*
Did I get any pressies for my birthday? You betcha

Coincidentally, Ashley’s Bahasa lesson in school today is about birthday and the children were required to draw a birthday card in the book. So, this is what she did today and showed it to me as soon as we picked her up from school
A birthday cake with lollipop flower and balloons.

A lovely Esprit black purse from a dear friend

A beautiful ring from another dear friend. I heart all my pressies
Thank you very much dearies. I’m officially a year older…….uwawawawawawawawawawawawawawawa

While growing up, I read a lot of Enid Blyton’s books such as the Magic Faraway Tree, Wishing Chair, Hello Mr. Twiddle and etc. These books were such a delight and I read them over and over again. I wished that I could join the children in the Enchanted Forest

Then I progressed to the Famous Five and the Secret Seven. Love the mysteries. As I got a little older, I read books like Little Women, Little House on the Prairie, Tom Sawyer and Anne of Green Gables.

I can’t wait for Ashley to start reading these books and hope that she would love them as much as I do. What were your favourite books as a child?

We don’t celebrate Christmas but hubs want to get Ashley something during the holiday season. This is because he said when he was a kid, he always wish for a present during Christmas but never gotten any. So, one day he casually asked her.
Hubs : “What do you want for Christmas, Ashley?”
Ashley : “Hmm…..I want a basketball daddy”
Hubs: *Surprised* A basketball? Why do you want a basketball?
Ashley : ” Because Wildcats play basketball, dad“.
Do you know who are the Wildcats? They are the basketball team in High School Musical. It’s all because of him ….

*shake head*
So, there’s no price for guessing what she’ll be getting this Christmas eh? Anything for his princess.

After Ashley is done with her arts class today, we walked around the mall. Except for looking to buy promotional cugs and mugs, we had no intention of getting anything when we went into Ikea but……… we ended up with something really big and heavy. Hubs ended up buying a table with four chairs for the patio. He said he wants to have more gatherings with his buddies at our house

Uh-oh….see who is enjoying the new table and chairs? She brought out her book and a bowl of marshmallows to eat.

Then she decided to ‘open’ a restaurant and cook for all her friends. I bet she’ll be spending more time outside now
Next on hub’s list is a BBQ set. I think we need a bigger home.

made endless trips to see her old friends – the roosters, hens, rabbits, tortoises, peacocks & peahens.

We sat on these beach chairs just outside our chalet at night to listen to the sound of the waves

The missy enjoying herself on the beach chair.

watching the beautiful sunset

Indulging in foot reflexology
That’s about all we did, besides sleeping and eating
We just love going to the beach for holidays. It’s good for the soul!

We just came back from our holidays at the beach. Where did we go? Avillion, Port Dickson again
Guess you know now that we really like this place huh? We went there just 6 months ago
This time we stayed at the Garden chalet.

The beds before we messed it up
As soon as we reached the resort, the lil missy wanted to change right away and hit the beach. Luckily the weather was not too hot. Plus it didn’t rain at all when we were there. I was a little afraid that being the monsoon season now, we may have to stay indoor most of the time.

Skinny minny dancing away. It was low tide

Sitting on the beach with daddy

After some time at the beach and the swimming pool, we went back to rest before dinner. The rest was actually for me and hubs. The 5-year-old did not seem to be tired at all and even serenaded us with a few Christmas jingles.

After dinner, we went to the coffee house on the 4th floor for some coffee. There, we were entertained by a belly dancer.
It was a relaxing break for us and most of the time, we just stayed in the room, snacking on junk food, watching crappy movies on tv or reading the magazines.
Of course the missy couldn’t sit still and insisted that she wants to go to the swimming pool, the slide and the kid’s club room. More boring photos of our trip tomorrow

we (Ashley, hubs and I) finally stepped foot into the theater. Yup, it has been that long since we to the movies. As for Ashley, yesterday was her first time in the theater…LOL! So pathetic eh? Ashley told us that she would like to watch Rapunzel so we took this opportunity to hit the theater for it. We reached the mall very early as Ashley has her art class there.

Toys R us was having a toys galore at the concourse so the lil missy went to check out the huge castle first.

Guess who joined Ashley at the art class yesterday? Cute Amber
After class, all of us went for lunch and then walked around the mall for a bit. We watched the 3.30pm show with Elaine, Danny and Amber
Of course we have to sit between the 2 chatterboxes or else no one will be able to watch the entire show in peace
Rapunzel ended at 5.10pm. It was very entertaining and we all enjoyed it. I must say Ashley did pretty well since it’s her first time. She ate popcorns while watching and occasionally turned to look at Amber and whispered to me, asking me to let her sit beside Amber

While walking to get our car after dinner, we stopped by the concourse as there were Christmas carolers belting out lovely Christmas tunes.

My not-very-shy daughter was busy grooving and dancing away. She even prompted some younger kids there to dance along
We finally left the mall at around 7.30pm and boy am I tired after spending 9 hours there.

It was my MIL’s birthday on Saturday. I decided to make some ice-cream cakes to celebrate
Instead of using a tray, I bought some aluminium foil bowls (which are for lor mai kai) and made ice-cream cuppies.

Got some pretty heart sprinkles too as topping

Oh, I finally bought a rolling pin. Here is Ashley helping me to crush the cookies.

After stiring in the melted butter, it’s time to press them into the little bowls.

I bought 2 different types of ice-cream this time – chocolate and vanilla. Some of the cuppies have vanilla ice-cream as first layer and some chocolate ice-cream.

Here are the cuppies. We celebrated MIL’s birthday at Swez Brasserie, Eastin Hotel. I brought the cuppies to the restaurant and the staff was so kind to keep them in the freezer for me.

Ashley playing around after she has finished her dinner.

Cuppies blowing time. Ashley told everyone that her mommy made the cakes and they should all say ‘Thank You’ to her mommy
She also told them that she helped me to make them too *grins*
