A great way to add some whimsy to your kid’s food is by using colourful food picks. I saw these new food picks at 100 Yen last weekend.

Cute animals picks and candies & donut picks

Matryoshka doll picks.
Aren’t they the cutest? While I don’t do bento lunches because it requires a lot of patience which I lack, I use food picks to spice up some of Ashley’s snacks/fruits. The ones above are for a friend and also my 3 year old niece in Toronto. I hope she’ll be delighted to see these food picks when her mom uses them for her fruits. Every now and then, 100 Yen or Daiso come out with new food pick designs. I love shopping there. Oh that reminds me that I have to start looking for gifts for gradnparents day
I also bought a Hello Kitty cutlery set for my niece.

Nice? I’m not sure if there are many Hello Kitty stuff in Toronto. I hope my niece likes it
Have a good weekend everyone! It’s going to be a busy one for us

My brother-in-law is back from Toronto for a vacation. “Suk suk” brought some gifts for the princess-wannabe

A big bag of Jujubes. They are Fat-Free. Yay! *nom nom*

A beautiful orange tee and denim skirt from Calvin Klein

It comes with a cute jacket too
‘Suk suk‘ has got good taste eh? I like this outfit very much. He also bought a hard casing for hub’s Galaxy Tab. Hub is a happy camper because he couldn’t find one over here. Looks like we’ll be going out for dinner more often now that my brother-in-law is here. He is looking forward to eating some of his favourite food. There goes my salad dinners

Happy Daddy’s Day to all the wonderful daddies out there
Ashley came home from school on Friday with this card for her daddy.

the front of the card

Messages in Mandarin
On Saturday, I helped her to do another lil gift for her daddy after seeing this idea from Jacss. It is a Father’s Day coupon book.

What can be found in the coupon book?

These coupons can be redeemed upon daddy’s request. Oh, there’s no expiration date *wink*
Ashley managed to keep these 2 things in a secret place (under the tissue box) until today. As soon as she woke up, she quickly went downstairs to take them. Then she placed them on daddy’s pillow when he was still sleeping

As yesterday was Ashley’s birthday, I bought a cake at the bakery for her to celebrate with her friends in school. She chose a chocolate cake with Donald Duck and Daisy Duck figurines (forgot to snap a pic of the cake). Then after school, she found her present waiting for her at the office.

A lil hamburger stall which comes with a dishwasher and oven
This present is from her Aunt Debbie and Aunt Jo.

This is how the stall looks like. The birthday girl was busy flipping burger and dishing up the fries

Ashley wanted a Barbie doll cake after seeing the one Kylie had recently. So, we ordered a Barbie Doll Jelly cake for her. She’s not too fond of cakes and prefers jellies. The cake is also from her aunts
What are her presents from mommy and daddy?

I gave her a Gossig dog carrier basket from Ikea which she can use to carry Tyson and Coco around. Daddy gave her a netbook
She’s one happy camper now
Can’t believe she’s already 6 years old. My girl is growing up so fast. With a blink of an eye, adolescence arrives, she’ll be checking out free online dating site and then heading off to college
Time…..please slow down.

Can anyone please tell me where I can buy these twines?

They remind me of the red & white twine carrier on the letter-pressed printed paper bags during my childhood. I wonder why the retailers don’t make paper bags like these anymore. Aren’t they better than plastics? I am obsessing over kraft papers now and if I can get these colourful twines, I can make paper bags like the old days, minus the printing
I have been on the lookout for mothers day gifts and would like to use these twines to decorate the presents that I plan to wrap with kraft paper. Appreciate if you could let me know. Thanks a bunch.

Thanks everyone for all the birthday wishes in Facebook and smses
I really appreciate all the sweet wishes. To celebrate my 30th birthday, we had steamboat dinner tonight. It’s my favourite
Yummy!

This photo was not taken by me. I forgot the camera hence I googled it
We had a similar one – half soup and half tom yam *burp*
Did I get any pressies for my birthday? You betcha

Coincidentally, Ashley’s Bahasa lesson in school today is about birthday and the children were required to draw a birthday card in the book. So, this is what she did today and showed it to me as soon as we picked her up from school
A birthday cake with lollipop flower and balloons.

A lovely Esprit black purse from a dear friend

A beautiful ring from another dear friend. I heart all my pressies
Thank you very much dearies. I’m officially a year older…….uwawawawawawawawawawawawawawawa

I have been browsing some creative craft blogs lately and have been very inspired by them. Hence, I decided to do something a lil different this year for some of the pressies. When I was reading the New Straits Times last week, I came across a whole page of orange layout.

It was the Season’s Greetings from NSTP and they encouraged the readers to use that page to wrap their gifts. I quickly saved that page and use it for one of the presents that I am planning to wrap.

Here is my plain looking orange present.

Then I decided to cut out a few 5-inch strips from the newspaper (stock exchange pages) and tape the ends together with double-sided tape. This is to create a flower bow as gift topper.

Tadaaaa….a gift with newspaper as wrapper and decoration
What do you think? I hope the recipient of this gift is ok with the recycled wrapping paper

We don’t celebrate Christmas but hubs want to get Ashley something during the holiday season. This is because he said when he was a kid, he always wish for a present during Christmas but never gotten any. So, one day he casually asked her.
Hubs : “What do you want for Christmas, Ashley?”
Ashley : “Hmm…..I want a basketball daddy”
Hubs: *Surprised* A basketball? Why do you want a basketball?
Ashley : ” Because Wildcats play basketball, dad“.
Do you know who are the Wildcats? They are the basketball team in High School Musical. It’s all because of him ….

*shake head*
So, there’s no price for guessing what she’ll be getting this Christmas eh? Anything for his princess.

When Pei Yi, the owner of nivnivHandmade posted the photo below in Facebook, she requested her friends and fans to guess what she sewed.

I thought it was fun so I participated by giving 2 answers :-
1. something to cover the stroller
2. something for mother during breastfeeding
Lucky me….I managed to guess it correctly though I didn’t use the right term. What Pei Yi made are Nursing Covers and when not in use, they can double up as baby blanket, changing mat, stroller cover, playmat or even a shawl for mommy. How versatile! My prize?

Two RM10 gift vouchers from nivniv Handmade
Cool huh? Now I can start shopping for Chinese New Year
