Organic Candies and Lollipops

Posted on May 11, 2011 under ashley, children, food, good stuff | 17 Comments

Recently, my friend gave Ashley a packet of Organic Candy Drops by Yummy Earth.  This is the first time I have come across this brand of candies. Yummy Earth is the No. 1 Organic Candies in the USA.  They are made with real fruit extracts, contain no artificial dyes,  are gluten free, nut free, dairy free and etc.  Plus they taste really good and not too sweet.  I’ve tried a few :P

Last week, hubs spotted the organic fruit lollipops at Bangsar Village and he quickly bought one packet.  The individually-wrapped lollies come in Strawberry Smash,  Tooberry Blueberry and Razzmatazz Berry flavour (what a tongue-twister).

Since they are organic, I don’t mind Ashley eating them :)   You can find Yummy Earth in Cold Storage.  Not sure if they are available at Toys R Us or not.  Check out their website – www.YummyEarth.com if you would like to find out more.  They even list out the ingredients of each candy.

I Love Kleenex!

I received a lovely surprise at the office last week.  When I went down to meet the courier service, I was handed a box. I have been sent the Kleenex Comfort Kit *Yay*

Ashley was just as excited and she thought it is a present for her.  So, what is inside the box?

Kleenex tissues and a lovely throw cushion.  If you were to rummage through my bag, you will always find loads of tissues because I cannot live without them.  Also, when you have kids, you need to get ready the tissues wherever you go because you just wouldn’t know when you need to wipe away the dirty hands or smudged-face.

Do you know that Kleenex’s newly improved high quality 2 and 3-ply tissues are made with 100% pure virgin fibre? It is softer and stronger.  Have you experienced tissues disintegrating when they are wet?  I dislike it when that happens because my hands or face will be covered with bits and pieces of tissues.  With Kleenex, you do not have to worry about that happening anymore.  The tissues still hold well when it’s damp.  Another great thing about Kleenex Tissues is that they are hypoallergenic.  Just perfect for those with sensitive skin.

Kleenex Vintage Box Packs

I just love their specially designed Vintage-themed box.  It will definitely brighten up the room .   Pick a Kleenex 2 and 3-ply Facial or Bath Tissues and bring it home today!

mother’s day celebration

Posted on May 08, 2011 under family, good stuff | 15 Comments

When hubs asked me where I would like to go for dinner tonight, I told him nowhere because I didn’t feel like going out.   Also, I need to spend some time reading up on our term life insurance policy. He then suggested that he ‘cook‘ for me since it’s Mother’s Day :)   Hubs is really good at making American Breakfast and firing up the BBQ.  Since it was already closed to noon, he suggested the later for dinner.  So, happily he brought Ashley to the supermarket to shop for the bbq stuff.

Next were burger patties, chicken and more sausages

Last but not least, some Snowy Ice from 100 Yen shop for dessert.

Feel so today *smile*  Can Mother’s Day be celebrated for a month????  I hope all of you had a nice one :)

where can i buy these?

Posted on Apr 28, 2011 under crafts, gift, good stuff | 12 Comments

Can anyone please tell me where I can buy these twines?

twine

They remind me of the red & white twine carrier on the letter-pressed printed paper bags during my childhood.  I wonder why the retailers don’t make paper bags like these anymore. Aren’t they better than plastics?  I am obsessing over kraft papers now and if I can get these colourful twines, I can make paper bags like the old days, minus the printing ;) I have been on the lookout for mothers day gifts and would like to use these twines to decorate the presents that I plan to wrap with kraft paper.  Appreciate if you could let me know.  Thanks a bunch.

a very short trip

Posted on Apr 11, 2011 under family, food, good stuff | 20 Comments

We went back to Pomelosville yesterday for Qing Ming festival which is also known as All Souls’ Day or the Tombs Sweeping Festival.  It is a day trip for us to go back and pay our respects to hubs’ grandfather, father and sister.   First stop was Sam Poh Tong Temple.

Ashley posing at the entrance of the Sam Poh Tong temple.  It was packed with people because it’s the last weekend for everyone to pay their respects.  The whole place was filled with thick smoke due to the burning of joss sticks.

Right after Sam Poh Tong temple, we head over to the “Tai Shue Keok” aka Big Tree Foot in Pasir Pinji which is famous for its Yong Tau Foo.  I have blogged about this before.

I don’t like to eat there because of the hygiene factor (hubs always roll his eyes when I say that), so I just went down to buy some of our favourites – Sar Kok Liew (deep fried stuffed turnip) and stuffed fish paste with long beans.   Hubs wanted to have lunch at the popular Mee Kari Ipoh Garden along Jalan Pasir Puteh but sadly, it was closed yesterday.  Then when he turned to look at Chuan Fatt which is across the road, he decided to eat there because it wasn’t packed.  Chuan Fatt is also another good place for curries in Ipoh.  Hubs grew up eating there a lot as he used to stay nearby.

This is how the shop looks like.  It is on Jalan Pasir Puteh, just before the market.  Got this photo from gpsfoodfinder.blogspot.com.  What’s so special about the curries here?  Their sinfully delicious curry noodles (wet or dry) come with fried chicken, roasted pork or char siew.

We always order the dry curry version.  Yummylicious!

Ashley is having her ‘kon loh’ noodles with the sar kok liew we bought earlier.

We went back to KL after lunch.  It was a short but good trip as we got to eat our favourite food.  Brings back lots of memories :)   The address of Kedai Makanan Chuan Fatt is 294, Jalan Pasir Puteh, 31650 Ipoh, Perak.

Swimming Lessons For Children

Posted on Mar 29, 2011 under ashley, good stuff | 4 Comments

When I was in primary school, I learned how to swim as part of the school curriculum.  The lessons were held once a week. We went to another school’s swimming pool every Monday evening for an hour lesson.  However, after a month, I stopped.  Somehow, I cannot remember why I did that.   Now I have forgotten how to swim anymore.  One of the things that I would like Ashley to take up now is swimming lessons.  She has expressed her interest in this too.  I am trying to look for a swimming class in my neighbourhood or nearby.  I wonder if there is one with pool lifts.  It would be great too if I can enrol together with Ashley.

Hotel Puri, Melaka

Posted on Mar 16, 2011 under family, good stuff, travel | 20 Comments

This time around, we opt to stay in Hotel Puri, a lovely boutique hotel on Heeren Street (Jln Tun Tan Cheng Lock)  which is just next to Jonker Street.  The 50-room hotel is a beautifully restored pre-war building. It has retained almost all its original fittings like the timber carvings, the mosaic floorings and etc.  I heart Hotel Puri.  The room is comfortable, pleasant and affordably priced too.

We walked past this Garden cafe on the way to our room.  It’s at the open courtyard.  Beautiful.

tired but happy

Just got back the reunion with my besties. Had a fabulous time laughing and chatting.   I managed to sleep for about 3 hours while my friends stayed up all night.  Some of them still went shopping today despite not getting any sleep last night.  Shopaholics!

SAM_0858

Took this photo at Lot 10 after I met everyone yesterday.   Love it! Can you spot the one wearing a pink sandal?   Yup, the lil missy came along with me to the sleepover.  She was happy to stay at the hotel :)   Hopefully our next reunion will be in 2 year’s time or earlier.  We missed you, Lena and Mabel!
