Ashley is down with the common cold but I call it the 3-in-1. It started with an itchy throat on Saturday, fever and slight cough on Sunday. Then on Sunday night, she got the sniffles too. Bummer. Took her to the paed yesterday and the paed was surprised to see how red her throat is. It has been a while since she was sick. I have been giving her one a day vitamins, coconut juice and barley water to boost her immune. Ashley was off school yesterday and today. Her appetite is pretty bad and I can see her face getting sharper
I hope she gets well soon.

We went for a birthday dinner at a Chinese Restaurant on Saturday and when they serve peanuts at the table, I couldn’t resist not taking a few of them. Guess what? The next morning, I noticed a pimple on my chin and one on my ear. Without fail, whenever I eat peanuts, I get pimples. Luckily there is no major breakout. Just one or two pimples which is caused by Androgen hormones. I read about this some time ago but have forgotten where. Acne is a big problem for many people. If you suffer from them and would like to find the best acne treatment, you may want to go through the acsonix reviews for more information.

For the past 1 month, Ashley has been on antibiotics because of the abscess on her knee. The first bottle was from her paed for a week, the 2nd bottle was from a GP which I took her to see for 2nd opinion and then followed by 10 days of antibiotic given by the paediatric surgeon who treated the abscess. I was really worried about her taking too much of it. When I asked the surgeon, he said there is no choice but to prescribed because of the bacteria infection. After I voiced my concern, he prescribed Ashley with a box of Restore Probiotic. This is to restore friendly bacteria

a box of 15 sachet. Ashley is to take one a day.
Probiotics has a list of good health-promoting characteristics such as
To maintain a correct microbial balance in the human intestines;
To kill a large number of disease-causing bacteria, yeasts and viruses;
To stop diarrhoea and constipation
To produce a number of vitamins;
To alleviate the symptoms of lactose intolerance;
To prevent some forms of colon cancer;
To prevent and treat some forms of food allergies;
To decrease flatulence.
Don’t I sound like someone from the medical assistant school? *wink*

The paediatric surgeon also suggested that Ashley takes a bottle of Yakult every day. It helps to balance the digestive system, improve nutrient absorption and boost natural defenses. He told us that he drinks one bottle a day
Since it is a recommendation from the doctor, we have been giving her a bottle a day. Do you let your children take Probiotics? What about Yakult?

Many months ago, I wrote about my friend’s baby boy’s problem with eczema. His hands and body were covered with eczema and it was heartbreaking to see him like that. After reading my post, a few of my blog readers were so kind to email me with some advice and where to find eczema cream that works.I was so touched by their kindness. I told them that I would pass the message to my friend. Guess what? My friend did not reply to my email or the message in facebook. Oh well, so much for wanting to help people. I hope her son no longer suffers from eczema. I do see their photos in facebook sometimes but her baby is always wearing long sleeves hence I can’t really see his hands.

Accutane is a form of Vitamin A to treat acne and was created by a US drug manufacturer. Accutane was created solely for the treatment of severe acne but some dermatologists have prescribed the drug for mild cases. It is a strong medication and should never have been prescribed because of its risks. Accutane has been shown to cause serious side effects which include Crohn’s Disease, severe bowel problems, birth defects, depression, miscarriages and more. If you or your loved ones suffered from the side effects caused by Accutane, you are entitled to monetary damages for your loss. You can learn how to file an Accutane Lawsuit at O’Hanlon, McCollum & Demerath. If you also know of anyone who has taken Trasylol and suffered complications, you can also file a Trasylol lawsuit. Recently, my sister consulted her doctor regarding her weight problem. She wants to lose weight by the end of this year as she has a few wedding dinners and reunion to attend. She has always wanted to lose weight and has tried dieting but to no avail. My sister discovered some popular diet pills on the internet but she was not too sure how effective they are. She printed out a list of the Top ten weight loss pills and showed it to her doctor. After going through the list, her doctor recommended that she takes Fenphedra which helps to suppress the appetite. My sister said she will try it for a month and hopes to lose 5 kg.

About 4 weeks ago, I started buying coconut water for Ashley to drink. My mother suggested this as it helps to reduce heatiness in the body and at the same time, Shireen also told me that she buys coconut water for girls. Ashley’s body is pretty heaty despite not taking much fried food or cookies. I found a seller near my office and a coconut cost rm2.70. One whole coconut has about 18ml of juice (about 3 cups). I buy it once a week and on other days, I would boil unsweetened barley water and “chat sing cha” (herbal drink) for her. I hope that drinking coconut water on a weekly basis will help to reduce the excessive heat in Ashley’s body. According to sources, coconut water is more nutritious than whole milk and healthier than Orange Juice
I googled and found more health benefits :
- Keep the body cool and at the proper temperature.
- Orally re-hydrate your body, it is an all natural isotonic beverage.
- Carry nutrients and oxygen to cells.
- Naturally replenish your body’s fluids after exercising.
- Raise your metabolism.
- Boost your immune system.
- Detoxify and fight viruses.
- Cleanse your digestive tract.
- Control diabetes.
- Aid your body in fighting viruses that cause the flu, herpes, and AIDS.
- Balance your PH and reduce risk of cancer.
- Treat kidney and urethral stones.
- Boost poor circulation

When Ashley turned one year old, I gave her E.Excel Millenium Juice which contains a blend of cactus, royal jelly and wild honey. As stated in E.excel’s website, cactus is rich in phytochemicals and offer many health benefits such as strengthening the immune system. According to the agents, eventhough the Millenium Juice is expensive, it is better than spending money on medical fees as people are less likely to fall sick
(I think this is their motto) The price of the Millenium Juice increases every year and I finally stop buying for Ashley this year. This is because I am not sure if it does help to strengthen her immune system or not because she still gets the occasional cold, cough and fever, AND we are giving her paed a lot of $$ >(
Recently, I have opted for a less expensive supplement for Ashley. I am giving her E.Excel Nutrifresh which is a fruit based beverage. Its ingredients include soy and an assortment of natural plant foods. It comes in five different flavors – original, mixed fruit, chocolate, peach and strawberry. It cost rm97 for a box of 30 sachets. I heard that some parents replace their children’s milk with Nutrifresh. I am giving Ashley a sachet a day and I hope that Nutrifresh will help to boost her immune system. Besides taking this, she also takes Vitamin C and Multi-vits.
May I know what kind of health supplements do you give your children?

a box of Nutrifresh

Just mix a sachet of Nutrifresh with a cup of water.

means one thing - A very crabby and cranky toddler
It is a torture to see Ashley grimacing in pain every time she drinks or eat *sigh* I wish that it was me who has the ulcers.

The bloody ulcer on her upper lip. There is another smaller one on her inner left cheek. She told me there is another one on the right but I couldn’t see it
I don’t understand why she is so heaty when she has been drinking lots of water every day, eating fruits daily and I boil herbal drinks for her twice a week. Ashley is still feverish with temperature around 37.6 – 38.2 deg Celsius. We have already seen the paed 3 x this week because she is also coughing
I just hope that darn ulcer will go away asap.

I have been applying the “watermelon” powder (a chinese medicated powder for ulcers) but it didn’t help. Yesterday, I brought her to the paed again and was given the above Oral Aid. She screams her head off each time I apply these gel/powder for her. Very heartbreaking but Ashley didn’t refuse each time eventhough she knows she’ll be in lots of pain. She just wants me to hug her tightly while she cries her heart out after that
