Another backdated post. On our trip back to KL after the Chinese New Year holidays, my husband suggested that we have our lunch in Bidor since most of the shops in Ipoh were packed. Well, at first I thought (assumed) that he would bring me to eat the famous Duck Drumstick Noodles in Pun Chun Restaurant, Bidor. I was wrong. He brought us to a little air-conditioned cafe called Coconut Island (or something like this) for Chinese/Thai food. He ate there before with his friends and they all liked the food. However, I find that the food was quite bland. Really didn’t enjoy it at all. I asked hubs why he didn’t take us to Pun Chun since I haven’t been there before and he thought I wouldn’t like it as it’s packed
Anyway, we did go there after our lunch. Yes, the place was indeed packed. However, the noodles do look delicious. At one corner, I saw many people queuing to buy some food. When I took a peek, I saw that they were actually lining up to buy some Wu Kok (Taro Dumpling). I decided to buy some to try. Boy, the wait was long because there is only one person manning the stall and it was an elderly man. He is probably the owner or one of his relatives. I heard that the Pun Chun Restaurant was established in the 1940’s and this place looks more like a old coffeeshop. Maybe they have some kind of Amish fireplaces back then.

Wu Kok from Pun Chun

I bought 4 pieces. They are not too bad but so fattening

What’s a trip to Bidor without buying some guavas? I was tricked actually. I asked the stall owner located outside Pun Chun restaurant to choose a few for me and he gave me some not-so-good ones
I’m planning a trip there soon to eat the famous Duck Drumstick Noodles

This is a backdated post. A week before the Chinese New Year, I was at the pasar malam (night market) in my area and I saw a stall which sell many children’s clothing. I went to take a look and was happy to see that this stall is like those factory outlet stores….hehehehhehe. They sell mostly GAP, Old Navy, Gymboree and Disney brand clothes. Of course I started looking for some good deals for Ashley and managed to find a Gap hoodie for her. It cost rm13. Cheap eh?

Floral hoodie

I found another Gap sweater for rm15. Not bad huh?
I always love a good bargain like this
Today is Thursday and it’s Pasar Malam night. I hope the stall is open so that I can go look for more things

This is a continuation of my earlier post. We went to Central Market over the weekend as we wanted to take Ashley on a train ride. While there, I came across a charming little shop which sells lots of trinkets, beautiful lanterns and other decorative items for home. I just adore them and we spent quite a while in this shop. Wish I found out about this shop before Chinese New Year. I would have bought a few things to decorate my home for the new year. The owner of this shop told me that many hotels in KL as well as banks like HSBC and OCBC would order the lanterns or table runners from them to decorate their premises.

A look at some of things in the shop. Lanterns with lots of beadworks

Lucky Nonya is the name of the shop

I couldn’t resist when I saw this pair of cute butterflies. It is hanging at my front door’s handle now. Price – rm10

a red dragonfly table runner – rm10

Upstairs are shops which sell batik clothings. My mom bought sweet green batik dress for Ashley
That’s all we bought at Central Market. I would definitely go back and visit the Lucky Nonya again. There are too many nice things in that shop and very reasonably priced too.

This year I am so far behind. I have yet to do some thorough cleaning around the house like scrubbing the tiles, cleaning the kitchen cabinets, washing the windows and etc. I also have not bought all the stuff I need to buy like cookies, mandarin oranges, haven’t got a haircut and worse….I haven’t even bought any new clothes for myself. Went to the mall today with the intention of shopping for a nice top but couldn’t find any and I walked till I almost dropped
There is only one more weekend before the Year of the Tiger arrives. Luckily I bought Ashley’s clothes a few months ago and recently her por por bought her a pair of new shoes and skirt. Will blog about this later. These are some of the things that I managed to do for my house.

My bamboo sticks decorated with some red velvet twine and 4 branches of red flowers.

I bought a funny looking fish to hang outside my house. I should have bought the butterflies.

Got a red colour wooden bowl for decoration. Just want to get something red for the tv stand
I’ll probably put some mandarin oranges in it.

Chinese New Year is less than a month away. It is time to make way for good luck and fortune in the coming year. The Chinese always believe that it is very important to give the house a thorough cleaning to clear away rubbish and sweep away all the misfortune. It is also equally important to de-clutter the home and get organized. I plan to do so very soon and one of the biggest problem areas in my house is my living room. When you have a kid, there is bound to be toys everywhere. There are also a number of cellphones and bunches of keys sitting on the top of our console table. Besides those things, sometimes there are paper clips, hair clips and what-have-yous on the table. One word – Messy. I want to get this area organized with great discounts from Organized.com. I just saw some fabulous basket containers from Organized.com. These stunning square baskets are made from hand woven pandan and are just perfect for me to put all the cellphones, keys and knick-knacks in. I can even use the large one to keep the toys. I love the colour red on these storage baskets as red is an auspicious colour for the Chinese New Year. I cannot wait to get my home organized in time to welcome the new year.

When I was at the market yesterday morning, I saw many stalls selling Chinese New Year decoration items such as lanterns and paper scrolls . They are so colourful and everything was in red and gold. Besides these decorative items for the home, there are also many stalls selling Chinese New Year cookies and snacks. I was tempted to get some but I am glad that I did not. I know that once I buy them, I would start eating the cookies before the New Year is here
Before you know it, I may need to get some adipex p to lose the weight I gained from eating too many cookies. Have you started your Chinese New Year shopping already?

It’s been a week since we started our new routine. This means no more going to the mall as and when I like. Also, I haven’t been out to the market in my neighbourhood to shop for groceries. Being a shopaholic, I have a bit of a withdrawal symptoms
Last night was Pasar Malam (night market) in my area and I was very looking forward to going. Whilst I was there, I bought quite a number of stuff besides food. When my mom saw the things that I bought, she said I must be having withdrawal symptoms because I haven’t been shopping for days…ahaahahahhahahahaha

Toy for Ashley to play in the office

Hubs got this pack of Ultraman cards for Ashley who has been asking for this many times.

A Princess ruler

A Princess bedsheet. Yes, pink again!
As you can see, all the things are for Ashley. Nothing for me

Last night, we went to Pavillion to check out its Christmas decor
This is the first time we are there at night. The decor is pretty simple but nice. Kinda magical too
There are many huge Christmas trees in the Centre Court, just down the Spanish Steps.

Beautiful Christmas Trees festooned with shiny, colourful ornaments and colourful decorations. There are also many poinsettias around the trees.

We managed to catch a bit of the Christmas dance performance. Ashley enjoyed it.

There are reindeers pulling the sleigh at the entrance of the mall

The 3 Bowls Water Fountain at the entrance of Pavillion. The 3 bowls are stacked together, indicating the unity of the three main races in Malaysia – Malay, Chinese & Indian. The national flower of Malaysia, Bunga Raya, is lightened up on every bowl.
At approximately 8pm, milllions of tiny snowflakes magically fall from the sky ♥ They are actually fake snow
We were having some drinks at The Loaf when it happened and Ashley was surprised to see the snowflakes.

Here she is…crying a bit when she first saw the snowflakes. Guess she was scared. Silly girl
After a while, she was alright and tried to catch the ’snowflakes’
I think she was afraid to see Santa Claus appearing when the snowflakes fell….hehehehehhe. Yes, she’s super duper scared of Santa *shake head*
