I went shopping on Saturday while my sister, Jo ‘babysat’ Ashley….hehehehehehehe.  Actually the 3 of us were at the mall and my sister took Ashley around to her favorite stores like ToysRus and those that sell hair accessories while I went shopping.  Bliss :D   Almost all the stores have the SALE sign on their window and I could not resist not checking them out.  I bet if there is one which offers discount auto insurance, I would have checked it out too.  The first store which I head to was of course Zara.   Alas, I could not find anything I like there.  Drats!

However, I did get something from …..

100 Yen shop is opened near my home. It is only 1 minute walk away! *doing the happy dance*  Its first day was on Sunday and I went there twice that day….hahhahahhaahaha.   Ashley was super excited too because like her mama, she loves to browse every section.  Did I buy anything? Well of course I did.  Before you know it, I will be lugging bags and bags of stuff from this shop.  I would probably develop muscles on my arm later on, as if I have taken the testosterone booster :)

Yes, I even took photos of some of the stuff inside.  I took out the camera when no one was watching.

my weakness

If you don’t know already, I have a real weakness for shoes. They make me very happy :D   Whenever I’m at the mall, I would always head over to the shoe stores to take a look.  On Friday after work, we decided to go to The Curve for dinner.   On the way to check out the restaurants, we of course, passed by the shoe store.  As soon as I entered the store, I laid my eyes on this pair of gorgeous tan shoe.  It was calling me from the shelf.  Believe me, it did!  I wasted no time and tried it on.  Oh man, when I looked at the mirror, I knew I had to get it.  But ……I stopped and told myself to think about it first.  Never buy on impulse ;)

We then went to get our dinner and while I was chomping down my chicken salad, my mind was on the beautiful tan shoe :(   I told hubs about it and he said…”it’s up to you” because he knows what it’s going to be like when his crazy wife didn’t buy the shoes that she wants :D   After dinner, we went back to the store. So, did I buy it?  The answer is …………..

May I present to you…..my clog style tan wedge ;)

I have never paid this amount for a pair of shoes before. Ok, I must confess. I am an el cheapo.  I prefer to shop when there is a sales.  So right now, I feel rather guilty for buying it.

Oh please tell me that a woman can never have too many shoes?

Shopping For Dinner Dress

Posted on Apr 21, 2010 under fashion, me, shopping | 3 Comments

My cousin will be having her wedding reception next month and I have been busy shopping for something to wear.  It is so hard to find the right clothes when you are looking.  I have been going in and out of the stores and tried on at least 12 to 15 outfits but still couldn’t find one which I like.  For hubs, it’s a different story.  He does not sweat when it comes to shopping for clothes.  He can just get any of those  men’s polo shirts or long-sleeve shirts.  Pretty easy huh?  Well, I am going shopping again this weekend.  Hopefully I will be able to find something I like.  Next on my list is strappy heels *shake head*.

Pun Chun Restaurant, Bidor

Posted on Mar 09, 2010 under food, shopping | 17 Comments

Another backdated post.  On our trip back to KL after the Chinese New Year holidays, my husband suggested that we have our lunch in Bidor since most of the shops in Ipoh were packed.  Well, at first I thought (assumed) that he would bring me to eat the famous Duck Drumstick Noodles in Pun Chun Restaurant, Bidor.  I was wrong.  He brought us to a little air-conditioned cafe called Coconut Island (or something like this) for Chinese/Thai food.  He ate there before with his friends and they all liked the food.  However, I find that the food was quite bland.  Really didn’t enjoy it at all.  I asked hubs why he didn’t take us to Pun Chun since I haven’t been there before and he thought I wouldn’t like it as it’s packed :(

Anyway, we did go there after our lunch.  Yes, the place was indeed packed.  However, the noodles do look delicious.   At one corner, I saw many people queuing to buy some food.  When I took a peek, I saw that they were actually lining up to buy some Wu Kok (Taro Dumpling).   I decided to buy some to try.  Boy, the wait was long because there is only one person manning the stall and it was an elderly man.  He is probably the owner or one of his relatives.  I heard that the Pun Chun Restaurant was established in the 1940′s and this place looks more like a old coffeeshop.  Maybe they have some kind of Amish fireplaces back then.

I bought 4 pieces.  They are not too bad but so fattening

What’s  a trip to Bidor without buying some guavas?  I was tricked actually.  I asked the stall owner located outside Pun Chun restaurant to choose a few for me and he gave me some not-so-good ones :(   I’m planning a trip there soon to eat the famous Duck Drumstick Noodles ;)

This is a backdated post. A week before the Chinese New Year, I was at the pasar malam (night market) in my area and I saw a stall which sell many children’s clothing.  I went to take a look and was happy to see that this stall is like those factory outlet stores….hehehehhehe.  They sell mostly GAP, Old Navy, Gymboree and Disney brand clothes.  Of course I started looking for some good deals for Ashley and managed to find a Gap hoodie for her.  It cost rm13.  Cheap eh?

I found another Gap sweater for rm15.  Not bad huh?

I always love a good bargain like this :)   Today is Thursday and it’s Pasar Malam night.  I hope the stall is open so that I can go look for more things ;)

Shopping At Central Market

Posted on Mar 02, 2010 under shopping | 27 Comments

This is a continuation of my earlier post. We went to Central Market over the weekend as we wanted to take Ashley on a train ride. While there, I came across a charming little shop which sells lots of trinkets, beautiful lanterns and other decorative items for home.  I just adore them and we spent quite a while in this shop. Wish I found out about this shop before Chinese New Year.  I would have bought a few things to decorate my home for the new year.  The owner of this shop told me that many hotels in KL as well as banks like HSBC and OCBC would order the lanterns or table runners from them to decorate their premises.

Lucky Nonya is the name of the shop

I couldn’t resist when I saw this pair of cute butterflies.  It is hanging at my front door’s handle now.  Price – rm10

Upstairs are shops which sell batik clothings.  My mom bought sweet green batik dress for Ashley

That’s all we bought at Central Market.  I would definitely go back and visit the Lucky Nonya again.  There are too many nice things in that shop and very reasonably priced too.
