As Ashley has been coughing for almost 3 weeks and the cough syrup and phlegm syrup did not seem to work, her paediatrician prescribed her with Singulair chewables. The paed believes that Ashley has allergies hence she is coughing for so long. Since I have sinus, I guess Ashley inherits the genes that makes her more susceptible to having allergy problems. Singulair is to help strengthen her lungs.
A box of Singulair which contains a month’s supply
A strip of 7 tablets
She has to be on this for 6 weeks. A box (4 weeks supply) cost RM168 (RM42 a week). Pretty expensive huh? Her phlegmy cough is almost gone now…after taking Singulair for a week. This is defnitely good news 🙂
Glad to hear that Ashley is getting better 🙂
Both my kiddos were on Singulair for 2 rounds before… they loved it… HQ calls them the “expensive candy”… hahaha
wow, 2 rounds? means 2 boxes of singulair? Ashley loves it too and keep asking for it a few times a day. of course she can’t take more than once a day. i wonder why…perhaps it tastes like sugus? 😀
Barb, both April and May were on Singulair before. It is quite effective one. April also has allergy (childhood asthma). She at one time was taking Singulair and Seretide through aero chamber mask. May was taking singulair and ventolin evohaler also. May was better, she didn’t take for long time. April was on this medicines for about 6 months. Now, both are find.
wow, your girls were on these meds? good to hear that they are better now. the paed actually tried the chamber mask for ashley once and she was scared and cried 🙁
Hmmmm..i should go back to the paed and check with him, whether Fearles need this or not. It seems his cough cannot gone completly. On off he still cough and with phlegm. Haih..
We can get this from outside pharmacy? Or need to purchase from the paed?
yeah..it’ll be better to check with the paed. you can get this from the pharmacy too. ashley’s paed only gave me one strip that day and ask me to go back and get more after a week. however, i went to the pharmacy as it’s more convenient. cost the same 🙂
Wow.. though it’s costly, if it works wonder on Ashley, then it’s good! 😀
Whenever Avery coughs, our GP prescribes her with 1-week Singulair. And since her cough is due to allergic she very responds well to it. Now I have ‘spare’ at home :p btw, i got it cheaper from pharmacy, rm33 for a strip
hey, rm33 for a strip is cheap. i went to caring pharmacy and it cost rm42 per strip 🙁 the pharmacist even told me there is no generic drugs yet so that’s why singulair is so expensive 🙁
Never heard of this before. Looks like it’s really very good and effective, that’s why it commands such a high price.
Ashleigh has been taking Singulair every day from autumn to spring for close to 5 years now . It has really helped control her asthma, even in winter, she seldom has any asthma attack. It is pretty expensive, but lucky for us, the govt subsidizes the Singulair as Ashleigh is in the high risk group.
wow, Ashleigh has been on it for 5 years? When the doc said Ashley should take it for 6 weeks, I thought that was long 🙂 Glad that it’s helping Ashleigh 🙂 how nice of the Aust govt to subsidize the meds. I’m sure you know…there is no such thing here 🙁
oh good that this works. it better work! since so expensif 🙂
Glad that it works on Ashley. Hope she recovers completely soon. Wow..Singulair can be taken for so long..I didn’t know that.
perhaps you can try “Dhatifen” too, it is also used to strengthen lung and it is cheap, do check with your doctor.
u might like to try chinese herbs too..
eh… since paed said Ashley might be allergic to something, why don’t you take her for a blood test and check. Malaika had a blood test to check and sure enough, she is allergic to peanut. 🙁
Glad that Ashley is recovered now.
so nice chewing her coughing away
A smile from SJ =)
yeah Singular is good for lung juz like Zaditen a supplement for our lung. Glad to hear tat Ash is getting better now 🙂
Gosh…this bout of cough going around is a terrible strain. My son too have been coughing now for 1 and a half weeks….going to 2 and 2nd time to doctor!!! Sigh…..
this works for wet or dry cough? i realized Philip has dry cough off n on.. dont think its serious..but why would a child cough right…if this can work, i dont mind trying
Ryan’s paed prescribed the same for Ryan too when he had a cough last time. Ryan hated it. He spitted out the very 1st tablet. I rmb I paid like S$7 each tablet (S$49 a week’s supply). I hope I got the amt wrong else I would feel ripped off in pieces!
I hv the hunch Amber could be allergic to cow’s milk and that’s the cause for her cough but doctor said it’s not cow’s milk n I’m reluctant to put her off cow’s milk. Her voice is bad again and I’m gonna bring her to see the doctor at Jln Ipoh this Sat.
Oh yes, Singulair is a very effective drug to treat and prevent sinus and colds. Our paed recommended this to Alycia when she kept having colds 3 years ago but I didnt buy it. One down side is that when you stop taking them, the sinus and cold may come back.
anything that works, the price comes secondary 😀
Yes, two rounds/ two boxes each *haiz*
May i know, i am in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Can i buy this product (Singulair) from your country? Any branch here in my country?
