During the recent one-week school break, we went camping in Janda Baik, Pahang with our friends. This camping adventure is the first in mine and missy’s life. Hubs has gone camping before with his friends. There were 8 of us and we spent a night by hanging out by the river, pitching our tent on the river bank and we bbq our meals there. The temperature was hovering around 22 degree C during the evening and night time.
This is our tent which can sleep 4 person. Will blog next on where we get our camping accessories from.
My friends’ tents and there were a total of 4 tents that day.
Although the setting up of the tent and the packing were a lot of work, I cannot believe how awesome this experience was. There is just something awesome about nature and roughing it in the outdoor. It was nice that we got to spend some quality time with my family and my besties. We rented some bikes and cycled along the kampung road and played in the river. I am very glad that missy got to experience this and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation.
Kids these days spend a lot of time in front of the screen. Spending time outdoor, getting some fresh air and soaking up some sunshine makes a person happier. Missy had loads of fun grilling marshmallows on the campfire too.
We started the campfire when the weather became cool at around 6pm. Our friends gathered the firewood from the trees nearby.
Missy and Isabelle grilling some marshmallows on the bbq pit before moving to the campfire.
Playing in the river 🙂
We rented this camping space from an elderly couple who live across the street. The charge for the pergola is RM50, the tents and parking space, including the water and electricity is another RM25. I do not know how she calculated this though. So we paid RM75 for a 2 day 1 night camp in Janda Baik. Pretty good deal. We showered at the common bathroom of the elderly couple’s house. We brought our own food for bbq lunch and dinner and breakfast the next morning.
It was indeed a wonderful break from everyday life. We left after spending a night sleeping under a million stars. Camping is indeed enjoyable and relaxing. We are planning a few more trips soon as we found a better camping site up on the hill.
Hi, Do have the contact details of the person managing the campsite? Thank you.
Hi, I am sorry I don’t have the contact number anymore. This couple stays just across the road from the Riverside Janda Baik campsite. When you are there, you would see a bridge on the left side. Cross that bridge and the couple’s house is just right in front of the bridge. It is best that you go to check out the place first and speak to the couple instead of phoning because they may mix things up. My friend called them earlier to book but they couldn’t confirm anything. So, my hubs and I drove to Janda Baik to visit them a week before we camp just to confirm things.
