My Dreaded Yearly Visit

On Thursday morning, I went to see my gynae for my yearly checkup. Not something that I look forward to eventhough it’s for my own good 🙂 I’m not comfortable lah doing the pap smear and all. This gynae of mine has lots of patients and I also dread sitting in her clinic waiting for my turn. She doesn’t take appointments and it’s on a first come first serve basis. Her clinic opens at 8.30am and she’s there only until 1pm. After that, she’ll be in Pantai Bangsar. I gave them a call at around 8.45am and there were already 12 patients. After getting Ashley ready (breakfast, milk, shower), we reached the clinic at 10.30am.

There were only 3 patients before me but I still had to wait for an hour for my turn. After the pap smear and bre*st examination, she did the ultrasound on my tummy. For a while there, I was really scared because she had this really serious look on face while she stared at the monitor. I thought, oh no…..please don’t tell me the cysts came back. Then, she finally mumbled, “Everything looks fine“. “No sign of any cysts“. Phew………what a relief!!!! So you see, I really dread going to see her every year because I’ve also got this phobia of the cysts returning.

About 7 years ago, I had a huge cyst the size of a grapefruit removed. It grew from the left ovary and so that had to be removed too. I only have one ovary left and for many years I was not able to conceive. One fine day, I finally got pregnant after I gave up trying for a baby. So, Ashley is actually my miracle baby 😀

Hmm…that reminds me….my sister actually took some photos of my cyst. I wonder where it is now. Maybe if I find it, I’ll post it up 😉
