During the recent Hari Raya break, we decided to go for a short road trip to Jenjarom. We have heard of the Fu Guang Shan Dong Zhen Buddhist Temple (also known as FGS Dong Zhen Monastery) for a while but have yet to visit it. Since the road should be pretty clear on the first day of Raya, we went to check it out.
The drive was pretty ok and hubs used Waze to guide us and we were surprised that we got to use the new highway. Forgot the name of it now. We reached Jenjarom in less than an hour. Below are some photos taken on that day.
The garden at the compound of the temple. Looks like mini Gardens by the Bay.
Missy praying inside the main shrine hall where a big Buddha statue is.
Water fountain at the compound. This whole place is so serene.
This is the founder of Fu Guang Shan Dong Zhen Temple
Love the lush green garden and the beautiful landscape in this temple.
Divided into several complexes, visitors would first see a museum followed by the main shrine hall, tea house, art gallery, Chinese calligraphy studio and their newly opened shrine which houses Buddha’s relics.
Their dining area, known as Dong Zen Temple Water Drop Teahouse, serves their specialty — the Buddha Noodle which is made with soya bean and mild vegetarian broth topped with slices of mushrooms.
This temple was built in 1994 and is a famous tourist attraction. It has a few complexes which consist of a museum, main shrine hall, art gallery and tea house. Unfortunately, we did not see the teahouse which serves their specialty – Buddha noodle which is made with soya bean and mild vegetarian broth.
Dong Zen Temple is famous for its different theme during each Chinese New Year celebration. Perhaps we should make another trip there during next Chinese New Year.
The first picture, I thought you went to Singapore. lol!
