She’s 15

Last Sunday which was also the first day of Hari Raya was missy’s 15th birthday.  We had a lil celebration for her at home because we are still under Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).  Actually even if there is no CMCO, she won’t be going out to the mall with her friends just yet.  It is still too risky to be going to crowded places.  2 days before her birthday, she received a lovely bunch of flowers from her friends, twin brothers Fearles and Cruz who also share the same birthday and birth year as her.  Yeah, they are almost like twins.  She was so happy with the surprise.  Thank you Annie, Fearles and Cruz!

Missy requested for Dim Sum for lunch and her por por treated her to it.  Hubs and I went out to the nearby dim sum eatery to take away some of her favorite dim sum which includes har gao, siew mai, fish ball, fried prawn rolls, and we got some steam pork ribs and chicken feet too.  We forgot to take photos of the dim sum lunch.

The night before her big day, I baked her a chocolate cake.  This is the first time I have baked her a birthday cake.

I followed a simple recipe online and it turned out pretty well.

As the cake looked pretty plain, I decided to whip some frosting using heavy cream, cocoa powder, vanilla essence and sugar.  Oh boy, I sucked at decorating the cake and smoothing it out.

In order to cover the imperfections, I crushed 3 pieces of Oreos to top the cake.

Missy received another surprise from her aunts who gave her a pint of Blueberry Ice-cream from Inside Scoop.

Right after the candle blowing session, she went up to her room to have a Zoom birthday party with her cousin and a few friends. This is the new normal kind of birthday celebration.

For dinner, she wanted to have the Super Ribs from Down To Bones and was treated by her mah mah (paternal grandma).  Super Ribs are two stick pork ribs coated with melted cheese and Super Ring snack crumbles. We also ordered the Ultra Ribs, Crispy Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Creamy Mushroom Pasta.  I ordered the food earlier and went over to pick them up.  The food was delicious.

Missy told me that she had an enjoyable day and it was one of the best birthday celebrations.
