Last week when I was checking the ulcer in Ashley’s mouth, I saw a lower incisor tooth coming out. I started to panic a bit because the permanent tooth is growing in but the baby tooth is still intact. I guess this happens when the permanent tooth did not grow directly under the baby tooth hence it is not pushed out. This means we have to make a trip to the dentist *wipe sweat*.
When I was a kid, the thought of going to the dentist terrified me. I still remember the big and mean-looking nurse in white uniform at the government clinic. The strong antiseptic smell in the dental clinic was just as terrifying. I don’t want Ashley to feel the same way as I did so I decided to prepare her for it. I told her that the dental clinic is nice and has lots of toys and books. The dentist is just going to check her new tooth and see what we should do. So the missy was pretty calm and looked forward to seeing the dentist.
We visited The Smile Clinic in TTDI

Ashley having her teeth checked by the handsome dentist. She was asking a lot of questions like “what are you doing now, what are you using, is it sharp, are you going to take out my tooth?”…..hahaha. The dentist was very gentle, told her what he planned to do and answered all her questions. First he said he will put some minty gel on her gums to numb the area. Then he will put a magic potion aka the needle to loosen the tooth. Then he would have to use an elevator to pull out the tooth because his fingers are not strong enough 😛 Ashley was a bit scared when the magic potion was being administered. The extraction was over and done with in less than 5 minutes. No drama at all *phew*
Rewarded with a cup of Milo ice-cream.
The tooth
The girl with one less tooth 🙂
Yeah…bravo, Ashley.
Thanks Hoi Ting 🙂
Ashley is very brave, and I hope the tooth fairy rewarded her very well! 🙂
Monkey is 7, and no sight of his permanent teeth coming out yet! 🙁
Thanks Macy. Yes toothfairy came. A male one …hahahahahah. Ahhh…it’s ok that William’s permanent teeth are not out yet. The later they come out, the longer they will stay …I heard…heheheh
Nowadays the dentists are more gentle, hor… those days, we get scolding! hahaha..
i know eh claire! last time was darn torturous!
My girl was so scared of dental clinic/chair/nurse/dentist, lol! I had to ‘cuff’ her on the chair while the old scary dentist pull her tooth out and she wailed like there’s no tomorrow *wipe sweat*
Bravo to Ashley for being so brave! I should let Avery read this post and prepare her for the next dental checkup.
thank you. is there a child-friendly dentist in taiping or maybe a handsome dentist? perhaps Avery would be less terrified. hahahahhaahhaa
Well done Ashley! Most kids are terrified to visit the dentists, but glad that Ashley did fine…
thank you Ashley 🙂 I was quite nervous too 😛
My daughter’s terrified to see the dentist even though I told her nice things about it. Sigh. Anyway, my daughter had the same case like Ashley. But I waited and the tooth finally loosen and came out. No need to see dentist. phew!
Yeah nowadays most dentist handsome handsome belaka lar. Mine also..hmm. terrible lar so gatal.
Anyway, Ashley is a very brave girl and so daring to ask many questions to the dentist!
LOL…you are funny! I wish Ashley’s tooth is loose so I don’t have to pay rm60 for the extraction. I heard horror stories of the tooth growing inwards/crocked hence may need braces later on. So that’s why we took ashley to the dentist asap 😛
What a smooth sailing process of Ashley’s first dental visit and first tooth extraction. No sweat and no pain. Bravo to Barb and Ashley. If my dental is a young handsome guy, I will double clean my teeth and tougue, spray mouth freshener before I go to see him. hahahaha!
oh man..you are so funny Sheoh Yan. If my dentist is handsome, i would be so nervous to let him see the condition of my teeth!! hahahahaha
Sorry, dentist i mean, not dental.
got put under the pillow for tooth fairy or not?
Bravo to Ashley for not being afraid. I used to DREAD dental visits too and I still do haha. This looks like a very child-friendly dental clinic. I will KIV this place as I’m sure I will need to bring Chloe to see a dentist sooner or later (she hasn’t been to one yet!)
Well done Ashley, part of growing up!
Well done Ashley! The thought of going to dentist terrified me as well. Yes, I totally understand the mean nurses, antiseptic smell lingering around the dental clinic because I gone through the same thing too….
The dentist really handsome huh…hahaha. Did Ashley ask you when you’re going to bring visit handsome dentist again? 🙂
Such a brave and good Ashley! No injection of anesthetic to numb the gum? Till today, I still hate dentists, still have that phobia of my school’s free government dental services :S
This is her first loose tooth ? So the permanent tooth grows behind the baby tooth and not aligned very well? Will the permanent tooth assume its proper position soon?
Well Done, Ashley! She’s so brave!
Wow….Ashley is brave! After the minty thing, what did the dentist do to loosen the tooth?
