of backyard monsters & dinosaurs

Since the lil’ missy is into dinosaurs lately, hubs and I brought her to the Backyard Monsters & Dinosaurs Exhibition yesterday.  It was held at the Mid Valley Exhibition Hall. Entrance fee is rm12 per adult,  rm8 for children age 8 – 15 and free for kids below 5 years old.  There were giant or monster insects such as …….

The giant eight-legged Tarantula

Preying Mantis

Scary-looking Scorpion

The giant creepy-crawlies and dinosaurs can move on their own without the help of any hydraulic floor jack.  They are brought to life through animatronics.  It was reported in the newspaper that there will be 700 bugs on display but I think we saw much less than that 🙁  The exhibition area is the same place as where the yearly Mommy and Baby Fair is carried out and for this exhibition, they only took half of the area.  So, you can see it’s not that big after all.  We finished walking around in 30 minutes.  From a child’s point of view, the exhibition is pretty fascinating. Ashley enjoyed herself and was very excited when she saw the dinosaurs. However, I find it rather boring. Maybe my expectation is high.  I thought there will many bugs and dinosaurs on display.  Oh, there is a discount on the tickets if you bring along your Astro bill.  We forgot about it *slaps forhead*.

Posing with baby dinosaur (According to her since this one is pretty small in size)

Here is a funny looking one which looks like it’s wearing a cap 😀

Lesson learnt from this educational trip?  Dinosaurs eat children.  I don’t know where she learnt that from 🙂
