Ladybird Books

Sometime last month when we were at Borders, I saw some Ladybird books on display and decided to get one for Ashley.  Ladybird books come in a, b and c series.  Series A is from 1a to 12a, Series B is from 1b to 12b and Series C is 1c to 12c.  I couldn’t find any A series so I bought Ashley a 1b book.

This is one of the pages in the 1b book and after reading to her for a few days, she knows how to read the book by herself 🙂

I wanted to get her the next book which is 2b but couldn’t find it. So, I bought the next one which is 3b above.

This is how every page looks like. Holy Cow! What a big difference from 1b.  The lil’ missy is pretty impatient when it comes to reading so I don’t know when she’ll be able to finish this book by herself.  I’ll be one happy camper when she does 😀

I find Ladybird series bit lengthy sometimes as there will be repeating words.. well, its good so the child can practise but sometimes, it get bored… :p

been ages since i heard the word “ladybird”. was famous when we were all younger hor? these days so many choices out there. have not started on such serious stuff for my son. now really simple abc & 123 only.

I think the book is really nice and simple, how nice it you could get hold of the 2b books coz the 3b seems like too many wordings for early readers hor … good buy!!!

  8. Krystal says:

Borders is having a 20% promotion for Ladybird books now and with the Ladybird card, you earn a stamp for every RM20 spent, which you can use to redeem a book (5 stamps) and cushion (10 stamps). You shld go and buy more now! I’m going too again to complete my Peter n Jane series. My hubby commented whether I was buying the books for myself or for the kids…haha!

this sound good, should get for my boys. Now i also let them read, after few times reading, they can recognise some of the words. But they still cannot read with too many words, impatient.

  11. Peter and Jane series come a looooong way. You look at the picture you know. Like very ‘lo tao’ hor… but it has been commended for being one of the best reading series for starter readers. Speaking of which, I should be getting a set too. I wonder if the sale will still be on when I go back to KL next wk.

  23. Ryan mami says:

My mom bought all the series for my sister last time as my sis’s kindy uses the books to teach them read. The price of the ladybird books was quite cheap (if not mistaken less than 8 bucks) then but now… the price seems hiked up a lot… pretty expensive for such thin books. 😛

  24. Farah says:
