3rd Day

We checked out of the hotel at around 10am.  I was looking forward to having breakfast at The Dutch Harbour Cafe along the historic red-coloured shophouses but it was closed.  Bummer.  We ended up at the only cafe that was opened along this stretch.  Forgot the name though.

We sat at the back of the cafe, facing the river.

I like the wooden signages in front of the cafe

Hubs ordered American Breakfast (again) while I got the Nonya Curry Mee.  Guess what?  There was no meat in the curry.  Just lots of vege and this is the first time I have eaten curry noodle with broccoli 😀  Pretty yummy though.

After that, we went to Heeren Street again, looking for Donald & Lily Cafe as we wanted to try their famous chendol.  However, we couldn’t find it and we were caught in the rain.  We waited for the rain to stop and went to meet the blogger mom I was talking about earlier. Wanna know who she is?

AshandFriends

She is none other than dear Annie.  She arrived on Sunday evening and we met her and her family for a while at a restaurant in Jonker Street.  Here is Ashley with Cruz and Fearles (photo taken from Annie’s blog). After chatting for a while, we went our separate ways.  It was almost 2pm and we decided to have lunch before we make our way back to KL.

We had lunch at Taragon by the river. This is a bistro/restaurant which serve Nonya and Western food.

Spaghetti for Ashley

SAM_0159

Cincalok omelette.  This is hubs favorite and it is really yummy

SAM_0160

Nonya Curry Chicken.  My favourite!

SAM_0158

Terung bakar.  Something different for us.  Are brinjals very famous in Nonya cuisine?  I see a lot of them in the menus.

Well, that’s about all on our Malacca trip.  We will definitely be back again.

the food looks so good. Do you know that Ipoh also has these stretch of cafe and food outlets facing the kinta river? just besides the st michaels school but havent been there though..probably not as clean as this place..thinking that kinta river is not that clean afterall..plus the smell!

Hey WF, can you believe it that I’ve been to this place before? It was during last year’s CNY with my relatives. The lighting was pretty bad and not many restaurants there. If only more effort is put into developing the Kinta river, then I am sure it will look like the Melaka one.

  7. Mummy Gwen says:
