In the west, the wedding industry thrives during the summer months. However, for Chinese, the popular season to get married is usually during Spring and Autumn. This means May and October are the busiest months. Many couples also like to tie the knots at the end of the year because some believe that the following year may not be an auspicious one for them. The most common Chinese wedding gift is cash in red envelope. Traditional gifts such as jade and gold jewelry are usually given by relatives. Some people would even buy gold bars as wedding gifts for their children. If you are invited to a wedding dinner and are having a hard time trying to find the best gift, well, just give money. Do make sure that the money is new and crisp.
