something from the past

A few weeks ago when I was looking for a bowl to serve the pickled cucumbers which I made,  I was pleasantly surprised to find a few bowls which I have forgotten about.  These bowls are very special because they were given to me by my mother-in-law, who received them from her late mother.  I think hubby’s grandmother used these bowls in her home many, many years ago and then passed them to my mother-in-law when she no longer cooks.  So I guess these beautiful bowls are probably as young as me 😉

I like the designs on the bowl and also its bluish tone.   They are very light too.  I  want to pass these antique heirlooms to Ashley next time 🙂

  1. very nice and I’d think it’ too precious to use. I’d keep it and if I had a maid.. I’ll lock it up .. 😉

Nice bowl~ It’s hard to find such fine porcelain antique bowl now. I heard that when an elderly passes on, the bowls will be passed down to her daughters and daughters-in-law, or the next-next generation. It’s a tradition. My mother has some bowls from my grandma and I have them too. But not as pretty as yours, with the blue color patterns 🙁

  4. antique.. hehe! 🙂 nice one..

NICE! Some of my new bowls broke or cracked after a 1/2 years. Nothing like the quality of these old kinds. And even mix and match also looks good on the table.

My mom also left with me some antique bowls and plates, those you can’t find anymore nowadays. They are very nice but delicate, so I just put them in the storeroom. Afraid to break them if I uses them!
