What Do You Do?

Although Ashley has been potty trained, she still wear diapers whenever she takes her naps and when she goes to bed at night. I also let her wear diapers when we go out to the mall. The reason being is that the line at the washrooms in the mall is usually long. It’s really nerve-wrecking when you have an anxious toddler who can’t wait to pee and when we reach the washroom, there is a long line in front of us. I wish that all malls have special washrooms for toddlers. It is just as important as changing rooms 🙂

Another reason I let her wear diapers when we go out is because I don’t know what to do when she needs to pee while in the car. Can’t stop the car by the roadside, can we? Errr…I don’t think I want to use the washrooms at the gas station too. So mommies…how do you handle this? Could you give me some tips please? pretty please??

when my girls were younger, I put them on with pull-up..till they are slightly older like 3 when they know and are able to hold, then its bye bye to pull up too.

In Singapore, the travelling distant is not long, so no problem to delay the needs by 15-20mins.

You can use her nap time to start training her not to use diapers. Ask her to wee before she goes to sleep. Expect that there’ll be accidents initially but be patient, she’ll get the hang of it. You may want to put a soft plastic sheet on the bed under her butt just in case 🙂

Err… with my 2 boys, car ride can still wee.. kekekeke… I just bring a bottle and put their birdies in 😛 As for home and going out, Ivan weaned himself off at 2 plus the diapers by himself by refusing to wear even at night, and surprisingly he didn’t wet the bed! Izac’s being trained partially now, very frustrating when he take naps and he’s still on the diaper whenever we go out…

I still put diapers on Sher when we go out, most of the time…. unless we go to places with clean loos like hotels or some restaurants, then she’ll be diaperless. I’m sure she’ll be able to hold longer as she grows older and her bladder grows bigger.
You can also get a portable potty. I’ve seen one at Mothercare, really handy and I nearly bought one last time!

hmm..i guess i’m the most typical teruk mom LOL…I do carry faythe and do by roadside if really no choice *shame shame on me*

you can try to let her go diaperless when u go out, but do bring a diaper packed in ur bag so that if reallly urgent, you can let her pee in the diaper. slowly train her to control her bladder, so that you can train for the night too. 🙂

Potty in the car is our solution. With the car bumping and moving, they can still pee and POO is the car. (If comes to big biz, it really stinks the car) and have to stop and nearby gas station to clean the potty.

Just pee everywhere larr..stop the car and pee on the side of the road. Phewww…so far no accident in the car yet.

Guess for boys is easier than girls!

Just wait till her bladder control is better?

During naps, I would put a plastic sheet, covered with a towel..that way, they won’t ‘stick’ to the plastic.

  10. Sasha says:

my sis (cos mine is not wee wee trained yet) asked my nephew to pee before they start the journey. So I guess that will help abit.

Some of the things I would do:

    1. Have a bin (I use Ikea’s plastic flower pot) with a plastic bag in the car. When the kids need to pee and can’t control anymore, the bin serves as a potty.

    2. When there are many people in the washroom, I’ll ask if my kids could go first as they cannot control themselves. Usually people allow.

barb, we always put potty inside the car for qiqi!

  13. etceteramommy says:

Oh no.. I hv no experience but I think since she’s ok with either in diaper/toilet, I guess putting her on diaper until she’s older enough to control her bladder?

When I saw this post, I quikly clicked on it..hoping to get more tips. Mana tau..I’m using the same tricks too..hehe. Anyway, I heard the potty in the car works very well. We haven’t try that yet. Thank goodness public toilets are easily found here. We just let the girl hover over it by lifting her. What I do is, ask the girl every 30 mins if she wanna go pee. Sometimes she doesn’t but we made her ‘cos who knows where is the next toilet stop.

Now i go out, sometime i still let my boys wear pull up diapers, sometime no, so far still ok, they don’t request “wee wee” while on the road, if really emergency, i will just let them “wee wee” at the road side. If at restaurant, sometime the toilet are dirty, i got no choice when they want to do their “big biz” i will bring them to the toilet. My boys are funny, they are on pull up diapers when we are out, but when they want to do their big biz they will request to do it in the toilet, rather than on diapers.
