After the ‘enriching‘ lesson I gave Ashley a few weeks ago on grasshopper, I have decided to do some research on the internet. I made a boo boo that day…..not ‘that‘ wrong word but actually I taught her the wrong term. Those two things on the grasshopper’s head is known as Antenna as illustrated below.

However, on a snail, they are known as Tentacles. Here is the anatomy of a snail.
Since I have taught Ashley that they are called Tentacles, she has been referring to it each time she sees insects with those two things on the head. I told her that they are actually Antennae and I made a mistake. However, she still prefers to use Tentacles. We were watching A Bug’s Life recently and she was so excited when she saw the characters. She said, “Mommy, look look, the tentacles. See, the insect has tentacles”. Oh well, at least she’s not using “that” wrong word which I taught her earlier *grins*

Yeah, I noticed also with kids we’re best to get it right the first time, as it will stick to their mind. But mind you, how many of use are walking encyclopedias wor, rite? Heheheh…
Interesting…I never knew the difference between them before!
real susah to deal with kids…mommy must never go wrong or else they will rmber the wrong stuff forever no matter how many times it’s corrected later.
Me too. I also don’t know about the difference..hahaha
hahaha! I still remember THAT lesson… its so funny…!hehe
pheww… nasib baik. hahahahha!
u r truly very hard working….
sigh, i guess i’ll hv the same problem later on. worst still, i m not a biology student before… cant teach. maybe send to centres!!!!
wow, so diffcult the words ler, you are so hardworking.
Clever Ashley, luckily she still remembered it is tentacles and not testicals, muahahaha….
We learn so they can learn eh. Thanks Teacher Barbara 😛
