Ashley doesn’t like writing and her handwriting is pretty atrocious 🙁 Each time when we ask her to do her writing, she’ll whine and even said she doesn’t like to do it. When it comes to reading, she’s fine and loves reading her books. I asked her teacher about this matter and she said Ashley loves to do homework and writing in school. Strange indeed. I didn’t really pay much attention to her writing this whole year until the school holiday started. In order to keep her occupied, I got her some exercise books for her to do writing at home. Oh my, I was shocked to see her handwriting. There are also many alphabets in small letters which she does not know how to write 🙁
So everyday, I sit with her for 15 minutes to guide her and let her write the same alphabet a few times a week. There are many *hair-pulling* incidents while coaching her 🙁 I praise her when she writes nicely and gives her lots of encouragement. Her writings are getting better now with lots of practice. I really must have the patience to sit down and guide her with her work. Do your kids dislike writing? Just how do you encourage him/her to like writing?
same here.to keep her still and not jump abt around the house, I coax her to do ‘koong ker’ (ie homework). start with writing then coloring but she cannot follow instuction lah.. hard to get her to ‘follow the dots’, after writing one miserable ‘A’, she scribbles the whole page.. driving me up the wall, a while later, I tapau everything.. to keep myself sane ! kek sei mou ?
hey, i’m first again wor..LOL !!!!!11
I myself is not a good person when come to writing back those days… I can remember my nanny has to put the cane next to me, as then for me to complete the writings.. I don’t mind anything other than that!
I think she is doing great. Reading is more important than writing…that was what I’ve been told.
Gwen doesn’t know how to write like Ashley..I mean without the dotted lines..hehe.
I think all kids like to be praised. Just give her alot of praises maybe this will motivate her more.
Or maybe some rewards. If she has completed certain tasks, reward her with some star stickers or something..hehe.
my boys also don’t like writting. Now school holidays, sometime i still ask them to do some Math and some writting (if i’m not too lazy) hahahhaha.
Usually i will rewards them for some “sweets” if they finish the writting and they do good. (bad hor?)
don’t worry she’s still young. Even Calista also the same is a big havoc when I ask her to do her homework like same like Annie said I will reward her a sweets if she able to finish her homework 🙂
i too need advice on how to get avery to do her homework and expedite the process. since avery likes to be praised, i’ll encourage her to write nicely so that she would receive a ‘star’ from her teacher. it works most of the time 😀
eeek. I havent come to that stage with Ethan yet. I can imagine my blood boiling then.. 🙁
HQ dislikes writing too… and reading as well… will only write one or two row, then won’t look at it anymore :-(. Although he pujuk us to read stories to him :-S. The only thing he enjoys is maths… and that’s only about 10 – 15 minutes a day…
But then I thought I only started writing when I was 6 in kindergarten… so I “fong go hui” lo…
She is still young, give her some time, no rush. 🙂
I think I’m going to be like you next year… Chloe has lazybones… do a bit of colouring, hand tired. Do a bit of writing, wanna drink water la, pee la etc. 🙁
Bryan is starting off pre-school this Jan and being a rascal he is, I will definately have NO patience at all to guide him! Sorry but I will leave it to the teachers for now.
i think all kids are almost the same? hehe… as she grows older, she gets better lo 🙂 i remembered when i was still in skool, i dread those once a week mandarin class. gosh!
mine will ask for homework then when u ask him to write nicely he said.. i’m done! cabut
i remembered coaching my son in writing as the teacher was very strict..
Most doctors’ handwritting are also horrible.. *smile* So don’t worry.
sooner she’ll have beautiful handwritting
A smile from SJ =)
truth be told…writing by hand is reallytiring. I should know. I just write my grocery shopping list, I already tired. Too accustomed to typing la.
I do understand when lil kids say it’s tiring.
Because I know it is. ;D
my comment hilang.
I just wrote that writing by hand is very tiring. Writing grocery list already so tired.
So..YES! Ashley..Aunty understand. Tell your mama to talk to her next time, when u’re tired of writing by hand k! Playing Fishville is better for your tiny lil fingers!
WAKAKAKAKAKAAKAKAKAKAKAAKAK
Hmm, Yan Yan still not at this stage yet! I bet she will lazy to write too when it is time for her to write. Instead, she likes conteng conteng only.
My kids dislike writing too. I think all kids dislike writing. Hehe.
its really a not so nice time (most of the time) when it comes to homework time for shan leo. he will give lots of excuses to delay it, or whine and complain that why he has to do homework, etc 🙁 i just hope shan leo will realised that all these is for his own good next time
