I took the H1N1 vaccine last Tuesday at a clinic near my home. It is a combination of flu and H1N1 vaccine. I was very scared of the side effects which I read online so I asked the doctor a lot of questions before the jab. Oh, actually before I went into the doctor’s room, I even asked the clinic assistant if they received many patients, any reported side effects, etc. Yes, I am that scared 🙂 After the jab, I asked the doctor if I could take home the box which the vaccine came in 🙂 That’s because I want to keep a record of the name of the vaccine and the name of the manufacturer.
I’m glad that besides experiencing a sore right arm for 2 days, I’m ok 🙂 It cost RM70 for the jab. My dad got the vaccine first at a different clinic and he did not experience any side effects. My mother-in-law too got the jab at the same clinic where I went and she has no side effects either.
Govt clinic are giving free jab but heard they are out of stocks in some clinics.
That’s great to know there is no side effect or minimal side effect after the jab. I will think about having the job also.
not many cases in your town eh? over here the number of cases are climbing 🙁
Oh …. glad that you had this jab, at least you don’t have to worried being infected.
heard govt free jabs are from china? and the ones private clinics used are from US? true or not.. skeptical.. if govt is giving free and proven ok, i dont mind joining in the Q but if got side effects, then i consider first.. so ashley also jabbed already?
hmm…never heard of that though. the jab i got is from Netherlands. i heard from my dad’s doc that the ones from the govt. hospital have side effects because those are only h1n1 vaccine and not 2 in 1. No…Ashley has not gotten the jab yet. I’m still thinking ….hehehehe
I saw Tropicana Medical Center (TMC) advertise a jab for RM50. My hubby and I are very concerned about side effect, so far, we dare not to take the jab yet.
wow, rm50 is really cheap. is that the 2 in 1 jab or just h1n1 vaccine?
Good to hear! As I was contemplating the jabs for my boys, they both caught a mild flu, and have now mostly recovered. So, shld still take or not? haha…
errr….i am still thinking if i shld let ashley take it or not. i asked her paed for suggestions but she said it’s up to the parents 🙁 ashley has taken the pneumococcal vaccine and i read somewhere that this vaccine helps prevent serious complications in the case of infection with H1N1 in certain high-risk people.
I was so inspired by your post that I went straight away to my company clinic and got it done 10mins ago! Same vaccination as yours. My boys are already vaccinated 2 weeks ago – the booster shot in 2 weeks time. It’s really painless!!! My arm a bit sore hehe.
hahahaha..great to know that my post has inspired you 😀 the boys did not experience any side effects? do you know the name of their vaccine..i mean from which drug manufacturer?
By the way, ALL vaccinations will have side effects – just depending on severity. Even epidural has side effects but people still take right?? I think it’s important to immunise ownselves to protect not just ourselves, but our children too.
that’s what the doctors told me whenever i question them about the h1n1 vaccine 🙂
oh~ You’re protected from H1N1 now!~
I also took the jab to be safe. Hubby, Elyssa and I suferred no side effects but my MIL vommited for almost 2 days.
Good sharing, Barb. I’d heard a lot of inconsistent information about this jab here and there. And since many blogger mummies have experienced it smoothly, I’ll give it a 2nd thought.
yeah, i have heard many stories about the jab so that’s why i was so scared 🙂 still scare actually..for ashley 🙁
🙁 ethan’s down with something rite now.. not too sure what’s that though…
Both my kids and parents took influvac also. the kids seemed more heaty than usual, whereas my parents had sore arms. funny thing was, the kids got flu and cough almost rightaway; HQ got well after 2 days without med, QQ’s stretched over a week with med. Me and hubby are getting ours next!
oh i heard that some ppl would get flu/cough as side effects from the jab. some would get headache or fever too. as for me…i caught the flu just before the jab and now i am coughing 🙁 but then again, many ppl are down with these 2 illnesses right now so I’m not sure if it’s due to the jab or from the virus 🙂
After reading your post, I feel more at ease now. Did Ashley take the jab too? I’m more concerned about Gwen coz we are travelling alot. I’m thinking to bring for the jab when we reached KL. Indonesia doesn’t have any H1N1 cases but Malaysia still have cases right.
no Ashley didn’t take the jab. I am still thinking about it 🙁 The cases in Msia are increasing every day.
good to get vaccinated… jayden has taken his.. not sure if I’m gonna get it.
Tnx for sharing!
i’m guessing that jayden is ok after the jab? no side effects eh?
Barb, yes next week my hubby n my turn for the jab. My son Calvin just got his jab 2 days ago….
My mom advice not to take…scare the side effect later on…also hesistating. I see lot ppl have taken this jab.
thanks for the reminder. I think I’d better get the jab first while waiting for clearance from Dr if Amber can take it.
My whole household took the jab. My mil had a sore arm. The rest incl Ryan experienced nothing. He even told me it was painless. I hv not taken cos I’m still nursing lil b. But then again I’m so confined at home should be ok kua. Btw Ryan only needed 1 jab bcos he took the flu jab last yr. That’s what the paed said. So don’t worry. Ashley will be fine. 🙂
