my perfect egg

I love eggs, especially half boils, sunny side ups and poached ones. I love the yolk to be runny ๐Ÿ™‚ When I saw my dear friend Lena of Her Frozen Wings making a poached egg for her Fettuccine, I decided to give it a try. Before I go into the egg, let me talk a little about Lena. We have known each other since primary school and she’s one of my BFFs ๐Ÿ˜‰ย  I didn’t know how good she is at baking and cooking until she started her blog – Her Frozen Wings.ย  Every time when I visit her blog, my tummy would do a somersault.ย  Those mouth-watering food she prepares are making me drool.ย  Alas, I have yet to try any of them though I have dropped hints many times….hahahahahaha.ย  Hopefully soon, ok Lena?

Now back to how to my favourite egg.ย  There are many ways to poach an egg on the internet but I like this one because no vinegar is needed. The ingredients are egg, olive oil, salt and pepper.

The Steps

1.ย  Boil a pot of water and then turn the heat down to a simmer.
2.ย  Get a piece of plastic wrap and place it on top of a teacupย  or small bowl.
3.ย  Lightly rub some olive oil on the plastic wrap.

Crack an egg and tie up the plastic wrap tightly.

Drop egg in simmering water and let it simmer for 4-5 mins.ย  Take out the poached egg carefully with a slotted spoon.ย  Then remove the plastic wrap with scissors and season with salt and pepper.

My poached egg salad dinner.ย  Do you like poached egg?ย  Which method do you use?

Oh, i saw another method is using the vinegar, i have yet to try out, but sound interesting. Add some vinegar in the water and put in the egg and keep stir the water, then it come out a very nice poached egg. Yours look easy, will try it out one day.

LOL, I love it and I jst churn the shimmering water and chuck the egg into it and poach for 3 mins, whn it’s done the yolk should be lava like consistency!^^

Oh, this is how poached eggs are made, never knew! Wah, so tedious eh? I don’t think I will do it since it involves dipping plastic bag in hot water, hehehe (I have a phobia of plastic exposed to heat). I love fried eggs and half boiled eggs ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. debbie says:

i normally just place the raw egg on a big round steel scoop & dip into boiling water to get the poached-egg-like result ๐Ÿ˜€

Hey, isn’t plastic and heat dangerous/poisonous?

it is ๐Ÿ™ didn’t think of it when i was cooking it. i don’t think i’ll use this method now ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Caca says:

still the traditional method works best.

yes, the traditional way is better. i tried this new way because i thought i could avoid submerging the egg in water ๐Ÿ™‚ thanks for dropping by my blog. i’m a silent reader of yours ๐Ÿ™‚
