It’s the weekend and we decided to stay at home and chill. Ashley and hubs watched Thor on the dvd while I wrapped a gift, cooked, mopped the floor, checked out the best free website builder and ironed some clothes. Not exactly a ‘lazy’ day for me. After watching Thor, the missy was bored so I decided to do a craft with her. I think the last time I did this craft was when I was in Primary school *heh*
I got us some celery stalks. Do you know what kind of craft we did?
Put some paint on the celery. *No photos Mom*
Let’s stamp away! She did a flower and a tree.
The missy also stamped the shape of the eyes and then added some eyelashes, eyebrows, nose and mouth. Next time I’ll get ready a bunch of celery so we’ll have more cross sections that look like a flower.
Do you remember using celery or potatoes for your art in school? Fun eh?
Yes, I remembered using lady’s fingers and potatoes, such fun!
OH yes, that was my favourite kind of art work! We would also carve potatoes, use lotus root and ladies fingers. And oh yes, blowing paint with straw too 🙂
oh yea! I remember that! Thanks for reminding us how the simplest things which are right before our eyes can bring so much of fun and joy to the kids!
Yeah, definitely remember that. I just done this with Calvin during the school holiday break.
Yea, we used all sorts of vegetables during school time to draw art, kinda fun!
I used potatoes only. Some friends would donate lady fingers and lotus root, as they saw me with limited craft item 😀 Back then, I hate lady fingers and lotus root, thus my mother seldom cook them.
Barb, I am not temporary slow down in cooking, as April asks me to help her doing Teacher’s Day, Mother’s Day and also Father’s Day cards for her to take part in the competition held in school. So, I will spend more time in doing craft than baking now.
oh that’s fun. can’t wait to see what you all did 🙂
Ashley watches Thor??? lol! my girls are scared to watch our shows especially if it involves fighting. my younger one will say “your show so scary!”. lol!
yes, i remember using veggies for art. the girls do that at the daycare at times.
hahah..yes. she seems to be fascinated with Thor, Captain America and etc. Daddy’s influence, obviously. She can’t stand blood and all though. i try not to let her watch too much violent movies cos she gets nightmares after that.
Fun….very fun! 🙂 Thanks for the reminder.
During my time … dah lama la tu .. it was definately potatoes cos celery was waaaayyyy expensive .. haha!
Yes I remember that! I used potatoes and lotus for the art.
I was (still am) crappy at arts and crafts. As a result, my kids don’t get to do all the fun stuff that Ashley does. At best, they get some paint and mahjong paper (art block too expensive) and I ask them to pain away. Oh, in the balcony hahahahha
I meant, paint not pain. LOL
Oh, yes I remember this sort of art. But I never tried using lotus roots before.
Oh yes! I even carved my own potatoes in Std 3 and created some fanciful patterns that had my classmates borrowing them from me hehe. Those were the days…
Yeah painting with vegetables is fun! Gotta do that with jayden soon 😉
oh yes..potatoes! that was fun !
oh yes of course. my favourite was using lady’s fingers. potatoes also.
Thor was a good movie. Did Ashley find Thor hunky dory and chunky ? I know you did.. kekekekeke
Amber did this in school last wk too. They used ladies fingers, lotus roots and stems from banana leaf. She was furious when I threw it away overnight..
AH!! I remember this, i use potatoes. Hmmm..now make me wonder did my boys had this before, maybe they had it in during their kindy time? Call me lazy, i hardly do any craft or art with my boys. 🙁 But now i have one mini project in mind, want to do together with them.
