too many toys

I am not very fond of buying toys for Ashley especially when she is almost 7 years old already.  She has way too many toys and I find that she doesn’t value them anymore.  Every few months, I would gather a bagful of toys and donate them.  It’s really wasteful.  I prefer that she entertains herself with whatever she has at the moment or play with board games, read books, etc.  Now before we enter any stores, I would remind her that she can only look at the toys and not ask to buy any.

When we were back in Ipoh recently, we walked past a toy wholesale store in Old Town.  After a while, the missy spotted a toy and gave us her most pitiful look.  I reminded her that she cannot have anymore toys.

Look at this pitiful face.  She said, “Please Mommy, I will donate all my ‘old’ toys.  Please, please, please“.  Too funny that I had to snap a pic.

In the end, Daddy gave in and bought her the toy *shake head*

It’s a baby pram which is big enough to fit Charlie, her doll.

When we’re back home, she said we can throw away the old broken stroller which she won’t allow us to throw earlier *shake head*

I don’t buy toys for my girls anymore as well. Like you said, they have too many toys and don’t value them, like how we treasured our toys when we were kids. But the toys wholesaler in Ipoh, I know I won’t resist stepping foot into it too 😀

For kids, promises made are to be broken, right? Hahaha…is it a coincidence that daddies are more prone to give in than mommies? Anyway, good strategy, that one, Ashley!

  9. mnhl says:

That’s a very nice toy for a girl.

  10. But I think Ashley will value this new stroller very much since even the old broken one she wanted to keep.

Nice pram for the doll. This toy shop has lots of toys!!! Very tempted to go there!

  12. sasha says:

  13. Kristie says:

too cute! haha…. well at least she knows the meaning of ‘giving’ 🙂

  14. ChloeMummy says:

The last pic had me giggling cos Chloe has a similar stroller and it’s also broken in the same way as Ashley’s haha! And she won’t allow us to throw it away too. We do indulge in buying lots of toys for Chloe too but mostly cheap ones :p

  15. same here. We hardly ever buy toys for the kids. In fact most of the toys were given to them as presents.
I know that if we buy them toys, it’d only interest them for 2-3 days and after that it’s out of sight and out of mind!

  16. Ann says:

It’s really too tempting no? Now I have a rule NOT to enter the toy shop unless we are prepared to buy them a gift. Else VERY VERY hard not to say no. Indeed their pitiful faces! 🙂

This is ok, at least something that she is really like. If my girls see something they really like, I will buy too. I won’t buy things that they may not appreciate.
