shopping in school

Ashley’s eyes would lit up every time she tells me about her bookshop just like her mama when she sees the word SALE.  During the beginning of the year when she wasn’t very fond of going to school, we would allow her to buy something from there although our house is filled with enough stationery to open a mini bookshop.  On the days when she could buy something, she couldn’t wait to get to school.  I guess that’s therapy to her, just like what shopping does for her mama.

Here are her shopping loots from school :-

A pink long ruler, a 555 notebook, pencil lead

a brown plastic folder

a roll of wrapping paper (for what I don’t know)

and a roll of colourful tape (just like what her mama likes)

Occasionally there are some erasers too which cost 50 cents each.  We have since stopped her from buying anymore things in school unless necessary.   I think she has gotten my shopping genes.

    like mother like daughter 🙂

  7. Barb, my Shenny also likes to patronize the ‘bookshop’ in her school. Her few favorite items are mechanical pencil, notebook and eraser. I guess that is most favorite spot for kids in primary school.

My girl bought a lot of redundant stuffs from her bookshop, and I had warned her not to do shopping anymore. Sometimes she even buys for friends @_@

So now, I cut down her pocket money.

I didn’t give my girls a lot of pocket money. I want my girls know how to manage their money and use money wisely within certain budget. So, I do not encourage buying unnecessary stuffs at schoo1. I want them to tell me what they need and the reason of buying everything at school. Perhaps, I am too stern.

I don’t give my children alot of money to school, just enought to buy some stationery and occasionally snacks. I wanted to teach them the value of money and the needs to be frugal.

She has definitely got your genes. Lol. Nope, I don’t thing is a girl thingy. If my boy has pocket money and is allowed to, he’d probably buy a loot too but both my kids are banned from shopping unless necessary. Bad mommy rob them of the joys of shopping. 😛

Oh yea, it’s all in the genes! My girls are the same. It’s so therapeutic for them to buy stationery from the school’s book store and also from the canteen. During Alycia’s 1st year in primary school, she secretly bought a lot of rubbish too from the school’s book store. Now, she has no more time to visit the book store as she has to be on prefect duty 😀
