We just got back from a ‘Foodie’ trip with my buddies, Annie and Elaine. They all wanted to go to Ipoh for a food feasting time and we planned this trip a few months ago. The three of us with our families went to my beloved hometown and ate non-stop.
The first place we went to was Thean Chun Coffeeshop in Old Town for its delicious Kai Si Hor Fun (Noodles with Shredded Chicken in the tastiest soup). While we were there, we also had Pork Satay and Deep fried Stuffed Turnip (sar kot liu), a snack which is famous in the Northern part of Malaysia.
Next we passed the side alley of the coffeeshop to check out the latest happening Burps & Giggles cafe. It is housed in 2 abandoned colonial-era shoplots in old town Ipoh. This place is a must-visit if you are in Ipoh. I love it! I’ll talk about Burps & Giggles in my next post.
We saw this 3D-mural on the wall before we reached Burps & Giggles. Spent 30 minutes taking photos and giggling away here.
Our kids.
After that, we did some shopping (toys for the kids at the wholesale shops and foodstuff for the adults. It was great to walk around old town and look at the pre-war buildings which are so beautiful. Then we hopped over to Sin Yin Loong for the famous ice coffee.
Next we went to have Ais Sagu aka “Bee Tai Bak” (the timeless dessert which I have blogged about a few years ago).
For dinner, we had a variety of food at the Gourmet Square. No photos from me but my friends were busy snapping and eating away 🙂
As for supper, we head out to the Dessert Street (Tong Sui Kai) and ordered bubur cha cha, barley with gingko nuts, egg dessert, ice kacang and many others.
More of our food trip next.
Must be a very contented trip!
