This week has been a really crazy one for me. Ashley was down with food poisoning since last Saturday. She complained of tummy pain right after swimming class and I thought perhaps it’s due to the air she gulped in while swimming. Sometimes she tells me that her tummy is painful after swimming and it would go away after a while. Hence, I didn’t bother much about it. Then during dinner, she vomitted 🙁
Next morning she said she felt better and we went to Malacca for a day trip. During lunch time she said her tummy was painful. I guess the cramps must be due to gas and bought Buscopan 10mg tablet for her. She took 1 tablet and said it was better. Her appetite was really bad though.
Next day, she was tired and complained that her tummy was bloated. I got Colimix from the pharmacy for her as it is good for wind and abdominal discomfort. However she vomitted right after she smelled Colimix. It has a strong bubblegum smell. I still feed her 5 ml of Colimix after that and she tried very hard to swallow. Have you taken Colimix before? It leaves a nasty taste in the mouth and throat. I know that because I was down with food poisoning too 2 days back and I took it. No wonder Ashley couldn’t stand Colimix and begged me not to feed her that. *Sigh*
I brought her to the doctor on Tues morning and her paed said she has a lot of gas in her tummy and prescribed Antacid for her. On Thursday, she still complained of tummy pain so I asked her paed to prescribe something for that and she gave Ashley Buscopan in syrup form and asked to stop Colimix. Now Ashley is a lot better 🙂
Note : According to some pharmacists, Buscopan 10mg in tablet form should only be taken by children who are above 12 years old. According to some information on Google, children above 6 years old can take it though. Anyway, just check with the doctor if you are unsure.
Opps poor Ashley, hope she is alright now!
Thank you. Ashley is better now.
It is just that time where kids easily fall sick. My boy is still recovering from his cough and flu. Has been more than a week now. Sigh!
Get well soon to your boy 🙂
Barb, so sorry you and Ashley have to go through food poisoning, I had it once also, very terrible! I hope you have all recovered by now! Take care.
Thanks Debbie. It was indeed terrible. Both of us are better now 🙂
