Last weekend, we made a road trip to visit Sungai Selangor Dam in Kuala Kubu Baru. The drive from KL is about 45 minutes and it was a scenic trip on the highway. We stopped by the little Kuala Kubu town before heading to Sungai Selangor Dam.
Our first stop was lunch at the Sun Sun Nam Cheong which was established in 1920. We had Hainanese Chicken Chop. Food was ok, and not that ‘out-of-this-world’ kinda taste. It did feel nice to be sitting in an old coffeeshop. We checked out the shop that sells the famous kaya puff but did not get any as the queue was long.
After lunch, we walked around to check out some old shophouses. We saw these murals on the walls of the side lane.
Pretty colourful eh?
We went to see the dam after that. So calming and serene. We would have stayed longer but it was a very hot day.
The right side of the dam. We left after a few minutes.
Waze took us to a highway (I forgot which way) to go home and it was very scenic.
That’s all on our short road trip to Kuala Kubu Baru. Would love to go back again and try the other eateries such as the Basikal Stopover cafe, other Hainanese Kopitiam and maybe a detour to The Sticks.
