I just returned from a wonderful trip to Seoul, and I’m still thinking about it now. It was one of those holidays that fill me with joy, laughter, and just the right touch of magic that lingers even after I’m back home.

One of the most touching parts of this trip was how it all came about. My dear friend, whose generosity never fails to amaze me, surprised me by buying my airfare to Seoul. She had originally planned the trip with two other friends, and then decided to include me as well. I was completely taken aback by her kindness and thoughtfulness. It’s just so her to always think of others, always giving without expecting anything in return. She’s known among all of us for her big heart, and I felt deeply grateful and honoured that she thought of me and wanted me to be part of this adventure. She knows how much I love my k-dramas and wanted me to go along.
There’s something about exploring a vibrant city, listening to conversations in Hankuk while wandering through streets lined with maple trees and gingko trees, having coffee at the minimalistic cafes and chatting endlessly over shared meals of sizzling Korean BBQ and late-night snacks from CU Mart.
The weather couldn’t have been better. Most days hovered between 8°C and 17°C and the crisp cool air makes it perfect for long walks. One morning, though, the temperature dipped all the way to 0°C, and I felt that sharp bite of winter again. It’s funny though as I had almost forgotten what single-digit weather really felt like! I even brought my trusty puffy jacket, thinking that I might need it, but in the end, it stayed tucked in my luggage bag the entire trip.
Instead, I found myself perfectly comfortable strolling through Seoul’s streets and palace grounds, soaking in the golden hues of autumn. The fall colours were simply breathtaking. The vibrant reds, burnt oranges, and shimmering yellows made every corner of the city feel alive. There’s something so peaceful about walking in that kind of weather, with the crunch of leaves underfoot and the cool breeze brushing against your face.

Seoul in autumn truly has a charm of its own. I left with a full heart, already missing the beauty of those crisp autumn days.

Having my cuppa with this view!
