Missing These …..

There’s a kind of beauty in the UK that settles quietly into a person’s memory long after they leave. It’s not loud or dramatic but found in everyday moments. It’s the rows of flowers along the neighbourhood sidewalk, the trees along the quiet street or tended gardens outside the charming homes and the beautiful parks where everything bloom effortlessly.

During my recent stay in the UK, I found myself constantly drawn to them in the most ordinary places. Even a simple walk to the grocery store felt special. Spring brings a spectacular array of blooms. I saw cherry blossoms, wisteria, tulips, poppies, daffodils, magnolias and many more. There were plants spilling over the brick fences, lavender swaying gently in the breeze and old trees on the streets.

The flowers and  greenery had a calming effect that made me feel peaceful.  I didn’t realize how comforting it was to be surrounded by so much green and flowers until I came back home. Now, I find myself missing those flower-lined sidewalks and cool, tree-covered streets more than I expected.

Well, that’s the beauty about travel. Sometimes a place stays with you not because of the big attractions but because of these small details.
