While on our way home yesterday, we saw a stall selling Lemang ( a traditional Malay food made of glutinous rice and coconut milk, cooked in a hollowed bamboo stick, lined with banana leaf to prevent the rice from sticking to the bamboo) by the road side. We decided to buy some, together with Rendang (curry) Beef and Rendang Chicken. It cost RM10 for one a large bamboo stick and RM10 for each of the rendang (not cheap eh?)
Mmmm….it was Lemanglicious eventhough some part of the lemang was overcooked a little. It’s fattening too but what the heck 🙂
A close up of my favourite, Rendang Chicken. It was really good. Have you eaten any Lemang this year?
I haven’t eaten any this year, but now I think I need to. It used to be a MUST EAT for me during the puasa and Raya month.
wow, you are fast. i just posted this less than 5 minutes ago 🙂 yes..must go buy some 🙂 so, are you enjoying your long holiday?
Where to get it? I wanted to get some during the Fasting month at those Ramandan Bazaar..and of course I never made it. U think at the malls we can get them?
i think you can’t get them anymore now. i saw some at the ramadhan bazaar. maybe you have to wait till hari raya haji 🙂
I have not taken any lemang ler.. it’s my favourite!!
Ooops, I forgot to buy one to try this year. Too late for me. 🙁
WOW, RM10 for a bamboo of lemang is very expensive. Where did you buy it?
It’s been quite some time since I last ate this. RM10 is still ok I guess. Saw these in Jusco… they are selling the lemang at RM13/batang.
just eaten this on the last day of puasa… but taste not so good, the lemang , some part of it not even cooked yet!! and yes , the rendang now really costly..here also selling rm10 per pack..
Nope, I haven’t try yet… Dun mention KL, Taiping oso selling rm10…. Every year increased gradually….last year rm8, if I’m not wrong….
I must go get my stash frm gombak- ze best lemang.
It certainly not cheap, but it looks sinfully delicious(tht would worth the price u paid), lol!
Reline the mould with choc on the sides: I poured in a spoonful of melted chocolate, swirl and rotate the mould, then use a toothpick lightly dip in the extra chocolate and coat the side. Hope I answered your question.^^
I should try Lemang. Looks so tasty!
I got mine from the stall in Taman Desa opposite the Abadi Indah Apartment. Nice… Lemang plus a container of rendang is RM12.
I havent yet! waiting for my colleagues to bring to the office.. hahaha….
geeee…..this yr no mood for lemang coz i need to work leh, so charm hor?? wat to do, festive on monthend is bad for me, sob sob!! u enjoy too 😀
very very nice. I miss it a lot too, and haven’t been getting it yet this year…
I haven’t had any yet. Normally the roadside lemang doesn’t come with curry here. They purely sell lemang, hence I don’t buy. Now thick-face requesting Malay colleagues for open house, muahahaha!
