Besides being able to catch up with our friends, the other highlight of our trip is SHOPPING 🙂 We managed to visit Chatuchak / Jatujak Market on the 2nd day. Heard so much about this place that I really wanted to check it out. There are all kinds of stuff being sold like houseware, pets, food, souvenirs, clothing and more. According to our friends, there is a new air-conditioned market called JJ Mall and is just next to Chatuchak. Alas, we couldn’t find a parking space at JJ Mall and I feel so bad because his son was cranky due to sleepiness. In the end, he parked at an open space parking lot and we went to Chatuchak instead while his wife and son were napping in the car. It was so hot that day and Ashley was complaining. That took away all the shopping mood. Anyway, I managed to get a few souvenir items below :-
Hand painted wall plaques for the missy’s room.
Elephant motifs t-shirt….hehehehehe
Next day, we went to the Platinum Mall which is the one stop wholesale place for clothes, shoes, accessories and bags. I can go crazy here. After covering the first floor, the missy started to complain. She asked me why I have to stop at all the shops and buy *pulls hair* I quickly took her to the 5th floor where they sell kids’ clothing and accessories. I got her a Hello Kitty bag and some stationery. That made her happy for a while and then I continued my shopping 😛
I managed to buy the most things at Platinum Mall. Here’s the hubs carrying a knapsack to keep all my shopping loots.
Dresses for Ashley. The pink one is 300 baht and the grey one is 400 baht. A steal eh?
The set of clothing is 220 baht and the shoe is 290 baht. That’s about all I got for Ashley.
Besides clothing and accessories for moi, I also bought this cute Elephant Design Bag from Jim Thompson. Love it! I first saw it at the Jim Thompson boutique in Central World but I didn’t get it. The price was 2600 baht. Then when we were in Suvarnabhumi Airport, I went into the Jim Thompson boutique to have a look and it was selling at 1860 baht. Cheaper at the airport huh? So hubs asked me to buy it asap 🙂 I must remember that certain things are cheaper at the airport.
I should have guessed you bought all things elephant. The wall plaque IS VERY NICE ! I also like the grey dress. A steal huh ??
Bangkok, watch out for Barb.. she will be back !
ooo, great shopping trip 🙂
this is why i aint bringing my kids to bangkok! lol…tough to shop with them around la and really, jj market, if you’re not bothered by the hot weather, u can really go crazy there. but it’s not for kids.
glad you could shop still though…yes, the dresses are a steal!!! psst, why didnt you make hubs and ash hang out at a cafe while u shop in peace?
Syn Nee, i asked them to wait for me at a cafe or food court but the kid didn’t want to because it was so crowded and noisy 🙁
Chatuchak is always hot. I have been there couple of times with my wife. We can only cover half of the area as that place is too big. Aside from the Platinum mall (my wife’s favorite too), there is another complex at Pratunam which is also a one stop fashion wholesale mall too.
Indeed there are elephants in your loots, I counted 4 different ones 😀
I like both dresses, so feminine and cheap!! I’ll definitely go ga-ga if I stepped my foot on such places~
Your new bag is very nice. Like all Ashley stuff too! You are so lucky to have your hub to carry all your shopping loots. I can never shop with my kids and hub, like you said, they will take away all my shopping mood.
I like the cute Elephant Design Bag from Jim Thompson! Very nice!
Do you have a thing for elephants? hehe. But they’re so cute. I know why you got them. Your husband is so patient, follow you around. I think mind would’ve just said he’ll wait at the cafe. LOL. Didn’t share pix of what you bought for yourself ah? 😉
oh that pink dress is so pretty!!! Now you make me wanna make a trip there also 🙂
Your shopping loot makes me want to go to Bangkok too! We almost went there but I cannot imagine handling 3 kids in a super hot place where I will surely be shopping like mad and I knew I would surely be hearing complaints from not 1 but 3 grumpy girls. So plan off. Hmmm, very tempted to go in Dec 😀
Yup! branded goods are cheaper at Bangkok airport !!!:)
Love all the stuff with elephant motifs!
Bangkok…another shopping paradise.Never been to Bangkok yet.
Wow!! I love all the elephants!!
Love the plaques, very nice!
AH!! So sweet of Andy, help you to carry the loots. When we are at Korea last year, my hub did the same, i buy he carry. hahahahhahahhaha..after that he complain!
I like the grey dress! In all, love all your loots. That’s all meh?? Or there are still some you didn’t post??? So little? I don’t believe. LOL!!
Wow, shopped till you dropped, eh? You only showed Ashley’s stuff and hid all of yours? 😉 Aah, I remember the Jim Thompson shop at the airport. Love all the stuff there. Very nice but expensive!
Great buy and love the designer bag. Looks good.
My last trip to BKK was before i got preggie (6 yrs ago!). And at that time, i dont know where to find good bargains. Seems like Platinum Mall is the place to go. Thanks for sharing.
Been to Bangkok 7 years ago. I think it is more interesting now compare to that time. Your loots are all cute and nice.
I like the Jim Thompson’s bag … see whether got time to go there or not …
