A Lesson On Insects ;)

After the ‘enriching lesson I gave Ashley a few weeks ago on grasshopper, I have decided to do some research on the internet. I made a boo boo that day…..not ‘that‘ wrong word but actually I taught her the wrong term. Those two things on the grasshopper’s head is known as Antenna as illustrated below.

However, on a snail, they are known as Tentacles. Here is the anatomy of a snail.

Since I have taught Ashley that they are called Tentacles, she has been referring to it each time she sees insects with those two things on the head. I told her that they are actually Antennae and I made a mistake. However, she still prefers to use Tentacles. We were watching A Bug’s Life recently and she was so excited when she saw the characters. She said, “Mommy, look look, the tentacles. See, the insect has tentacles”. Oh well, at least she’s not using “that” wrong word which I taught her earlier *grins*
