Girls On A Budget

Ashley and her friends are making every pound count. With a bit of planning and discipline, I believe one can live well on a budget. I am very impressed with these girls. Rather than spending lavishly on takeout, restaurants or cafe, they have embraced a practical lifestyle.

For breakfast, they usually keep it simple and fuss-free with toast and jam, or a bowl of cereal. They do their groceries a few times a week at the local supermarket such as Lidl, Sainsbury and Tesco.  Cooking is a shared task and they try to cook almost every day to save money.

Lunches are always home-cooked food. On the days when they have classes at university, they’ve come up with a clever solution. They do batch cooking during dinner and packing leftovers for the next day. All five of them even went out and bought five lunch containers for this purpose.  Whenever they go out to the city, they would share their lunches to save cost. Once, they even brought their lunch box out to eat after shopping.

Ashley and her friends are very careful with their spending and it’s about saving with a goal in mind. They’re setting aside what they can to fund their travel adventures during university breaks. Whether it’s a weekend getaway to London or other parts of UK, or trip across Europe, they know every packed lunch and not shopping on an impulse can bring them a step closer.

One of their packed lunches – pasta

This has got to be the most expensive lunch she had eaten so far. It’s meehoon goreng from the Malaysian society event. It cost £7.
