I’m taking a break from the Malacca trip post. So, Sheoh Yan, please bear with me for a while. Hold on to the tissues first…hahahahahaa. Last week, Ashley told me that her teachers asked if she would like to join the school dance which is held during the School Annual Sports Day, just like last year. She told me that she absolutely loves dancing and asked me to let her participate. I said ok since she wants it so much. Then a day later, she came back and handed me a consent form which also states the amount of money we have to pay for the costume and accessories.
I paid the same amount last year but forgot to blog about it. A freaking rm140! Really, this is a bit too much and we are sort of ‘forced’ to pay this amount because my child wants to participate. I won’t be surprised that we parents will be asked to fork out another rm40 or rm50 for a pair of shoes later on. I’m fuming mad that the school use this kind of tactic to ‘get’ money from the parents. I have asked around and no kindergartens request for over a hundred ringgit just for the costumes 🙁
Hmmm……mine already asks me to pay upfront RM150 for their annual concert. So same same lah. I forget to ask, which primary school will Ashley be going to next year?
I guess it’s alright if she has the interest… way to go Ashley!
Again?? I still remember last year that pair of bling bling shoe. hahahhahahahhahhaha
For Yan yan, I think we paid rm150 in total for the concert costume, snacks on concert day for kids, transport for rehearsal day, and two adults tickets and one dvd.
wow, so many things. for us, there is no dvd. children go to the stadium on their own.
So this is the last yr of Ashley in her kindy, last time for her school to get money from you too, let her participate since she likes it.
yeah, i’m letting her join since she loves it. it’s just that i don’t agree with the way the school is profiting from it.
We paid RM80 for the costume… no consent form, but the teacher directly asked from us. No option to quit and they sound like ‘along’ collecting money. And my girl is looking forward to this event.
I didn’t know kindies in KL charging so high one. Since she likes it so much, Mummy has to pay lor. 🙁
Sigh….indeed why kindy’s want to make it so elaborate. Actually where something simple also the kids will enjoy.
Depends how much Ashley wants to participate. Tell her maybe with RM140 can do this and that and this and that….and see what she say.
let her participate..she will love it.
let her go .. the experience is worth it but this commando style kindie v smart hor.. send a ltr saying Ashley has been selected.. but u hv to pay. LOL !
pay lor. wud 2 do ?
If you do not let her join because of pricey, Ashley might feel uneasy to see her friends practice while she sit aside watching.
Ha..my hubby told me the same when I complained that we had to fork out RM80 for my girl for dancing when she was mere three year old.
p/s wei.. can wear her RM40 klik klok big blingbling shoes again. Make sure you remind teacher before they slap you with another bill – for another pair. LOL !!! *evil laugh*
i think we paid around rm80 last year for my girl’s concert 🙁 got back 2 costumes, which can be also worn as casual clothes 🙂
i think it’s quite normal for schools to ask parents to pay for the costume but RM140 is abit high. Depends on what type of costumes, most of the time those costumes cant be wear on ordinary days and it’s a waste!
So expensive… but then, this would be her final yr in kindie. So might as well just let her join 🙂
wow that’s quite expensive. Mine charged RM70 last year I think. And shoes you can wear anything
Daylight robbery!! But the kindy mgt probably knows they can get away with it cos most parents will end up forking the money. Aiyo…I must include this in my budget consideration when Elyssa goes to kindy!
Why not you highlight to her teacher about the price? Like asking them RM140 includes what type of costume, shoes and etc.
it’s true 140 is indeed a tad high…but i think if my kids want to participate, we still hv to pay!! we really spoil the market 😛 but i’ll complain to the principal also lah
during my boys’ time, the kindy charged only 80!!
