Ipoh Food Again

When we were back in Ipoh recently for the “Qing Ming” (All Soul’s Day) festival, we of course went around town looking for good old Ipoh food 😀 Right after we have paid our respect at the Sam Poh Tong temple, we headed to the Big Tree’s Foot (called Tai Shu Keok in Cantonese) hawker food in Pasir Putih.  This place is famous for its yong tau foo aka ‘char liu‘ (fried beancurds).    This time we didn’t eat there because I don’t quite like the hygiene factor of this stall 😛  I went down pack the ‘char liu’ and proceeded to another coffeeshop for lunch.

As soon as I reached the hawker stall, I saw many people standing around.  Guess what?  Local celebrity, Xandria Ooi was there filming the Tai Shu Keok’s famous yong tau foo.   I don’t know what programme she’s on  but if you happened to watch this episode on tv and saw a plump woman dressed in black, furiously picking those yong tau foo into a bowl, well, that’s me 😀   These were what we had that day….

20 pieces of Fried Stuffed Sar Kok (turnip).  Simply yummylicious and they are the best.
