When we were in Jonker Street, Malacca recently, I chanced upon a stall selling paper dolls. Seeing them definitely brings back cherished memories of my childhood. I used to play them with my sisters. The paper dolls came with outfits for all kinds of occasion. I also remember creating my own outfits for the paper dolls.
There are 3 different sets for sale and I bought all of them for Ashley. It cost 50 cents per piece.
Here is the missy playing with the paper doll with her por por. She prefers those with dresses like a princess 🙂
Did you play with them when you were a kid? They are such endearing childhood treasure. I would prefer Ashley to play with paper dolls than Barbie dolls 🙂
I loved playing with this too when I was a kid. I still remember I had a box dedicated for all my dolls and their pretty costumes. 🙂
Barb, during my time, I asked some big cheh cheh to draw dolls on the cardboards so that they lasted longer.. and I drew the clothings and coloured them myself.. well..those were the days.. everything seems to be self-made! 🙂
OMG, the top sheet of paper doll is the one I had during my childhood!!! I missed all these fabulous game, thanks for bringing back the memory to me! I shall visit Jonker during this school holiday to look for something like this! Thanks for sharing!^-^
Have a wonderful day to you!
ooh.. i love those paper dolls. my friend who was good at art would draw paper dolls and sell to us 🙂
One thing I don’t like about these paper dolls is their Baku always ‘fall off’. You get what I mean. 😛
I like this paper dolls very much when I was still a kid. Now I bought those paper dolls in books for April and May. Yours looked very nice, and so cheap.
OMG…this really reminds me of my childhood time. I thought I can never see this again. Still remember last time I used to buy it from the Kedai Runcit at 0.05/0.10 per piece. Now even the kedai runcit also hardly seen liao.
Jonker st got so many our childhood things. So nice.
Oh gosh…… I used to LOVE em!!! Haven’t seen these around for a long time. 50cents only somemore!!
Wow, I remember playing with them when I was a small girl. Definitely brought back memories. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Oh, what a sentimental reminder that we were once little girls playing paper dolls! Yes, I played these too and mine were bigger dolls, mostly blonde girls with names like Marie or Alice. The dolls and their pretty clothes came in a complete booklet with story of the dolls too, travelling in places like Paris or London!
Still available now… hardly seen any. Last time i used to play with my cousin sister…is cheap though – 50cents!
It’s really nostalgic to see these paper dolls again 🙂
I had all those you bought here, once upon a time, kekeke!
Back then, I used to hate the doll with short blue hair and green outfit (in May & Emi piece) because she’s so tomboy and doesn’t look pretty in any dresses.
Definitely played with them!!!!
I like this when I was a kid.. 🙂
I loved paper dolls when I was a kid, but not my girl. She doesn’t like any dolls, not even barbie.
