Weekly Test

Ashley’s school reopens tomorrow.  It was closed since last Wednesday for Chinese New Year.  Her teacher told me that she won’t give the class any homework during the Chinese New Year holiday but when they return, they have to work extra hard to catch up.  Don’t really know what she meant by that but I have a feeling there will be more homework?  Ashley is already getting 3 to 4 books of homework a day now.  Each book has 2 pages of work.  Besides daily homework, she has spelling, ejaan and ting xie (Chinese spelling) tests every week.

Do you think this is tough for a 6 year old?  Primary 1 is much tougher?  I know I’ll be losing more hair when the time comes.

  1. I would rate the level of difficulty moderate.. a way to build up their vocabulary to enable them to structure sentences later. Looking on the brighter side, it’s good to prepare Ashley for chinese primary school now than having to struggle when the real race begins.:)

More than 10 words of each test is very tough though they are some repeat words!!

  3. sheohyan says:

I guess this is sufficient to prepare Ashley for primary 1 in Chinese, but it is only enough for the 1st semester.

  16. That is really really good. I would rate all as moderate. How I wish Shenny’s teacher will do the same too. I think she is way too relax in her kindy.

  17. ChloeMummy says:

I think it’s better to start from young. Ashley should have no problem when she goes to Std 1 next year. Chloe’s kindy is just the opposite… very relax one… homework-free and spelling-free. I think I will go bonkers when she goes to Std 1!

  18. Mummy Gwen says:
