things she said …

Remember the post I wrote earlier about Ashley missing me in school and I gave her my photo to put in her purse?  Well, the other day, out of the blue, she returned the photo to me.  She said she doesn’t need to see me when she’s in school now.  Hmmmm…..a good sign that she’s enjoying school now 🙂

Last Friday, on the way home after school, I told Ashley that I missed her and I casually asked her if she missed me too.   She said, “No mom. You know….. you have to learn to be independent” and she has that exasperated look on her face.   I burst out laughing because that’s what we have been telling her since she started going to P1.

After four months in school and a new form teacher (before, it was the disciplinary teacher who taught the class as her form teacher was on maternity leave), she is now more independent, self-assured and confident.  She said she enjoys school now and has been conversing with me in Mandarin (fyi, my Mandarin in only ‘half-bucket’).  Nevertheless, I’m glad with her progress now.
